This oneshot is much less interested in the action and carnage of the apocalypse than it is in exploring the effect it has on its two tragic characters. Kurose is all too happy to use this as a fresh start. Shirotani is clinging to his old life through his missing girlfriend. Aspects of their life before and their growing connection to one another are gradually revealed before it all comes to a head in the climax. It's nothing if not dramatic.

Annnd we're back to getting some twisted psychological works. Nice. This one did surprise me, somewhat, even if I knew it wasn't gonna be happy and cheery. Gotta say the author did well setting the tone for the story; it added a lot to the suspense element and yet still managed to balance out the atmosphere and not to turn it into a completely one-dimensional horror piece. That was extra nice.
