All the elements to make this manga good are mentioned, but never flushed out.
It’s like watching the anime Yona of the Dawn, except they cut out the ENTIRE journey, they cut out Yona’s character growth, and they cut out all the showing of how things happened. They just have Hak verbally, with no flashbacks, tell the audience how Yona overcame many struggles to become the brave and strong woman he loves. The End! Book is over, nothing more to see here. That is how the writing in this story is in a nut show. All tell, and no show.
It tells you the prince is this and that, it tells you how hard he is working, it tells you there are people plotting behind the scenes, it tells you Elianna is in love, it tells you how Elianna has done so much for so many people, but you will see none of it, and what is shown will be glossed over.
Even if the author wanted to ignore the politics, this could have been a fun story about a prince trying to get an introvert to notice him, and how she learns being an introvert isn’t a bad thing, and enjoying books to share with others can actually benefit others although she never realized it. Character chemistry could have been created, and a fun little satisfying journey to love created. But instead we get, the hard working prince loves Elianna the bookworm who also loves him. How and why? Who cares, the art is pretty and the author said so. There are comments like I finally caught you, but we the audience never saw the chase so~…you know…those words have no meaning to us.
