The art doesnt connect at all.. the movement is not smooth and kind of confusing... one frame she is holding a weird thing the next frame she is holding a key... watconfused It is the same scene and the same hand like can we at least see her put down the weird thing before picking up the key? I dont know... i heard good reviews so i will continue to read it for now.. but i really dislike the art...

This story has a lot of content so I could go on forever about it - but to make it as short and sweet as possible it was a good read. The characters were interesting and likable and the historic details were well thought out. As a whole I felt very happy finishing it. However, the 'mystery' behind everything was strange and confusing. I couldn't predict a lot about what was going to happen and when it did it was convoluted, a little vague and random? I guess to me it felt too disjointed with how the rest of the story felt and represented thematically. Maybe I'm just slow and haven't pondered all the symbolism in it, but it was too out-there and irrelevant in my opinion. But all in all, it was enjoyable and made me feel like I could aspire and look forward to great things in the future and as an adult. The romance too was well balanced with the plot and satisfactory in the end. Everything worked out pretty much perfectly - a little too perfectly, but sometimes that's nice to read.

Would I recommend it, yes. It had a lot more strengths than weaknesses. Chris was a fantastic main character along with all her close friends. Was it flat out amazing - unfortunately not quite.

*Side note - you can finish the last 5 volumes on otakumole :>

I didnt expect much when i decided to read it. But... This manga is awesome! It deserves ten out of ten, beautiful arts, strong characters, well paced story, a plot that getting deeper and will get more complicated. What i like the most is the author seemed do a good research on victorian era to write this manga, which seldom fine in shoujo manga.
Toward the ending though, i felt some scenes were rushed. Just like with a flip over a page and suddenly he met with her dad. But overall, it still has a nice satisfactory ending. I'm a fan.

Not your typical shoujo manga, so if you want short skirts, typical bishounens, sparkles, crybabies, and stupid main characters, then this is not for you.

This manga portrays the lives of young women during the Victorian era, inequality of rights to education, social strata, camaraderie, strength of achieving your dreams despite all odds, and love among others. You'll appreciate this series if you're one of those people who, instead of shedding tears, choose to strengthen one's self (be it emotionally or intellectually) in order to survive and achieve your goals.

Simply put, this manga is awesome. I cant wait to see how she will unravel the threads of mysteries surrounding her. This manga really reminds me of A Little Princess, and Im such a fan of the book. I love how it shows the oppression of the girls and her shock when she found out she had to wear corsets. Not only that, she has a will of her own and isnt simply crying over every unfortunate incident that happens to her. Instead, she gets back up and does her best to prove the headmistress wrong.
