Mixed feelings

While the female lead is admirable, did the author really need to add the other rivals? Just makes it seem generic nowadays.

Lovable idiots

You can't help but root for the main couple and enjoy their journey. I see people complaining about the female MC being too dense, but I think it realistically shows a person that hasn't have much interactions with peers to actually acknowledge feelings of friendship or romance. It is pretty clear from the beginning that she has it ingrained in her brain that she has to support herself in her own, thus not accepting and realizing when she needs help from others. It's not only a love story but definitely also chracter growth for all three of the love-triangle, which was resolved well. And we all love us an arrogant himbo, I'm always torn between laughing at the male MC and pitying him.

Cute, but got boring after a while

I think I remember this manga being a really nice concept that would appeal to me at first, but after a while I started getting bored as the scenario stays the same and the female lead in my opinion doesn't really grow much as a character. Spoiler: I felt like she didn't really care to marry him in the end (I don't specifically remember when she ever did express any affection or love for him) and only did it b/c the author wanted to have them get together. I mean, its not cringey and its pretty cute and light, but I am not sure if I'd go through re-reading all those chapters again.

Loved it, a little Slow-Paced but Great Story

I, for one loved this series. The author has once again succeeded to make me like their manga. The characters were cute and made me feel warmth in my cold dark soul. The jokes made me laugh a lot and the art style was amazing. It was overall a wonderful story and makes you feel happy at how cute they are.

Also, for the people disliking it, because the main characters weren’t in a relationship in the earlier chapters, if they were it would’ve ruined the story. The title last game means that that’s their last competition. Since once Kujou conffesses her love for Yanagi, the game would end and Yanagi would’ve won. This was the whole point of the manga, so if they started dating in the earlier chapters, that would have ruined the story.

This is a pretty slow paced manga, so if you like fast paced, get to the point types, you probably won’t like it. However, for me, I enjoyed it a lot, but to each their own.

So cute I'm tearing up

This entire series screams "ADORABLE" from beginning to end. The art style and the innocence of it all can be so refreshing, especially if you are used to American TV shows and what not.

I love the main male lead, he is head over heels in love and proud of it. He is smart, respectful, considerate, attentive, kind, and determined. There is honestly nothing not to love about him. He is a huge crybaby and I love that the author didn't make him a stoic guy.

Instead, the girl is the stoic one. I do wish she developed more as a character because I feel like while the author nicely subverted stereotypical shoujo tropes of emo/serious dude and soft, crybaby girl, the author failed to actually develop the female character thoroughly.

One great thing about this series is the beautiful side characters, luckily. I love each and every one of them.

Arkani's review hit a lot of the points I was going to make.
If there was a textbook example of a slow burn story, this would be it. Within reading three chapters I was already a bit frustrated with the main heroine and the repetitiveness of the romance. If you like hearing the phrase, "He's my precious friend!" over and over, you won't mind it.

I found myself reading on just so I could finally reach the point when they get together, and boy, I regret having to read so far in. I'm not saying they should get together right away, but they didn't get together until chapter

54 when there's 56 CHAPTERS

The storyline is really predictable. There was never a point where I was surprised or impressed by how the plot progressed. The art is just okay. It's not bad, but it's not particularly cute either.
I found myself liking the male lead and the side characters a lot more than the female lead, Kujou. She's a very bland blank slate character so I had trouble rooting for her. I was rooting for them just for Yanagi's happiness instead. The side characters are a lot more complex, and I enjoyed them much more.

I would skip this one to be honest.

It started promising but come on I dislike love triangles and I dislike when a woman needs whole manga to realize what the guy is up to. It's cute I give you that but if you are looking for feel good romance this is definitely not for you. The story however is good.

Character: 7 - I sympathize with the guy ... he is doing so much and the woman is oblivious. You've gotta be kidding. And there is another guy who wants to steal this girl ... love triangles ... blargh.

Story: 8 - Story progression is good. If you are looking for a romance with a story of ordinary slice of life this is a manga for you. Good slice of life.

Romance: 6 - You've got to be kidding here. I like romance mangas where they realize eachother feeling earlier and do progression from there but here it's just woman realizing from chapter to chapter that there is something more going on than just "friends thing".

Art: 8 - I liked the art. Typical shoujo art.

Enjoyment: 6 - I read whole manga and was left completely unsatisfied. I had to go to another manga right after because this one gave me a feeling of incompleteness.

Overall: 7 - Read it if you have nothing else of romance to read. Story is good, but "feel good" feeling just isn't there.

Cute and Refreshing

Honestly, the story was really slow, and wasn't very romantic, but the cute and funny moments kept me reading to the very end, and the ending was so sweet, I died inside, and starting crying on the outside. Some people say that it is overrated, but, the story is adorable and is really refreshing to read after reading a dramatic and sad manga.

I enjoyed this manga IMMENSELY. Sometimes It's frustrating to see such dense characters when it comes to love, but when it's part of their very being, it works.

Kujou

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
She is probably one of my favorite shoujo female leads now. Her social & emotional awkwardness were a joy to read. Before she realizes her feelings she says that Yanagi is her precious friend who she wanted to be with forever. It was a adorable how dense she was. Even after Yanagi basically tells her directly what his ideal girl is (He's describes her), she still believes he likes someone else. She eventually realizes her feelings and finally confesses to him like he always wanted.

Yanagi

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I liked Yanagi because for once he was a shoujo male lead that wasn't just your typical rich/popular/smart/cool guy. He always thought it was just a rivalry with her and it sorta was, but he realized that he was just like that because he had fallen for her the day he met her. He was affected heavily by Kujou and it worked in his favor. He became an all around better guy and what was nice was because of how Kujou was, NONE of that mattered to her like it does to so many other shoujo leads. He was actually very shy and a bit prone to mood swings. He wanted her to confess first because of her social awkwardness she always said they were friends. He finally gets the girl and wins the LAST GAME (his declaration towards the beginning was that he would win when he puts a ring on her finger.)

The rest

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Fujimoto and Miyabe were a cute couple. Actually put well together. Souma was an all around douche, who you did feel bad for at times (losing the girl he likes in highschool and who liked him because of food poisoning to his best friend), but he was still annoying. Momoka was an all around bitch, but an enjoyable character. It's hinted that Souma started liking her at the end because of their connection in rejection with Kujou and Yanagi. The other guys in the club were funny comic relief.

All in all, this is probably one of the best shoujos I've read in a long time, up there with probably Ao Haru Ride which I also enjoyed immensely. I would love to see this as an anime or movie. Probably won't happen, but it would be nice.
