Description

With the screech of rubber and a crunch of metal, Dojin departs the mortal world, leaving behind his beloved sister and niece. He awakens in the kingdom of Yooguk, where the people call him “emperor” and serve a god named Yellow Dragon. Dojin soon discovers that Yellow Dragon called him to Yooguk for a purpose: to share his “life force” and protect the kingdom. this is where Brothers Without a Tomorrow really solidified what they're doing. The story got a bit too complicated at the end there but most of the mystery was answered. Not all and certainly not satisfactorily but it's answered. This needs to be a touch longer, by at least 10 to 12 chapters.

Still this, created in 2019, wasn't as rough as their earlier works but, again, it's not as well thought out and plotted as Smyrna & Capri (2022). Smyrna & Capri really showcased their stunning art, vivid world building and a much much more polished story flow.

Their latest one Dear Zero (2024) is shaping up to be very similar to this story though.

I really liked Yellow Dragon's design.
I found some explanations confusing (like the snake and the serpent wanting to become a god)

At the end I cried. I felt a knot in my throat on the last chapters, I wanted them to reunite and have a happy ending. I wish we had gotten at least one or two side stories with them.

I wanna cry? The ending didn't satisfy me enough. Or maybe it was just that I didn't want it to end. The love portrayed here is a love beyond anything I've seen. My heart hurts (´༎ຶ ͜ʖ ༎ຶ `)♡

There are a few inconsistencies...

For one, certain characters die off screen even though you've grown attached to them. You're just told they're dead. But then you're told their spirit did something... That would normally have been done by another character that wasn't dead... Or maybe they were? They sort of vanished at some point with no explanation.

Additionally, the whole... First 60 ish chapters are about red lotus... Which doesn't get a conclusion. Read my spoiler below for clarification but, there is no conclusion to the main driving plot point.

Finally the very end of it, while sweet, wasn't satisfying. Many are dead and it seems like they'll never return or be replaced? He atoned for what seems to have been roughly 40-50 years going by the neices age and dialogue so how did such a short time make up for the terrible things? How do you even make up for what happened when so many died?

Spoilers critique below.

First to address the no conclusion. The last we see of red lotus and the royal family, they are using sorcery to try and kill ox and the emporer. Then yellow dragon shows up aaaaand picks up emporer aaaaand starts suffocating the animal spirits...
Are we supposed to assume that that killed red lotus (also a snake, and a sorceress) and the royal bloodline? Why not show that then? It's been SUCH a thing for the story for 60chps and they die with no show or mention of it? And if they didn't die, what happened then??

Another "wth happened" is black tortoise. Ok, he turned evil. Did they manage to kill him then? They were notified by pigeon stuff was going down (even tho rooster shouldn't have had knowledge of that AND time to write and send a message during it all) and yellow dragon was told... While black tortoise was alive. So did he slaughter him and return? Nothing is shown or mentioned or anything.
Same with black tortoises emporer. He was hinted at early on, he was set up to be this big thing, he was even hinted at seeing emporer face to face and possibly even trying to kill him himself but NONE of that happens and it just goes away never to be mentioned again.

And he even said he was there because emporer died so he threw himself off a cliff. How? How did that happen? Emporer was supposedly never dying and his deaths were being replaced with yellow. That was a MAJOR plot point. So which number died? 26 lived his whole life (and also was somehow 27 too) and 27 never died but black tortoises kingdom got messed up in between 26 and 27. Even lets say during 27. Either way, neither died. Both lived their entire lives and passed away on their deathbed. So how does any of that make any sense????

In the end, because there's so much going on (time travel, different worlds, different dimensions, dream realms) I think the author lost track of some of their story and as a result forgot to explain certain important events or just plain forgot they existed.
So it was a good read, and a nice love story, but the rest of the plot is going to be annoying if you take it seriously and try to follow everything going on. There's just too many missing pieces to be satisfied with any other part of the story other than the romance.

I LOVED the relationship of the main characters >\< and the plot was really good. It still has a few holes or things that could have been explained a little better, probably some characters that didn't even need to be there to make it more " interesting", like the psycho from Dojin' past, it felt unnecesary, and i would like to know what happend to the black tortoise? Maybe i'll read it again in case i didn't pay attention Xp

The art is great and the story actually has plot rather than just drama for the sake of drama.
One frequent trope about Yaoi manga/webtoons is that "every guy is gay", but I'm happy to say that wasn't the case here.

I think the story is still far from over but so far so good.. love the art and how the plot is unfolding.. yes there is actually a plot.. the story’s pacing kinda ‘languid’ but it suits the mood.. one of my current on going favs.
