this story pisses me off. and it pisses me off that people like it so much (although i think they should be allowed to think that). the first chapter was confusing. it didnt explain much, mc has a twin brother who disappeared. 5(?) years later his watch is discovered, mc listens to his brothers story about how he left to find a cure for their sick mom and died in the process because everyone he loved backstabbed him. mc gets mad, tells the army hes not coming back and somehow a portal appears?? and now theyre in a tower i think? or maybe this is before the tower?? mc has to do better than every person before him or he cant go up the tower (which doesnt make sense btw, at some point there will be almost no one making it into the tower if thats how it works). anyway he makes it in and he has decided hes gonna get revenge for his brother, and i spent the next... 100? 150 chapters?? looking for answers to what the FUCK that portal was, where he came from (was it earth or not??) where the other people in rhe tower are from (apparently some people are also from in the tower?? but it doesn't make sense??). idk man this storyy. i really really tried hard to like it but i seriously cant. it doesnt ever explain the most basic of questions. the art is good but also it kinda looks rushed and lazy sometimes, and its not good enough (imo) for it to make up for this infuriating storyline. im sorry for ranting, if you like this story that's fine and good for you, im just extra pissed off today and every time i hear people mention this manhwa i think about all the reasons i hated it

Where to begin with how much this manhwa sucks?

1. Protagonist's only motivation is to get revenge for his twin brother, but the manhwa did not spend any time on developing the relationship between the two characters at all, so we have no reason to care. The emotional bond between them is all tell, no show.
2. There are no interesting or complex characters in this story. The MC acquires two horned sidekicks but they are just simple-minded sidekicks, basically NPCs. Aside from that the MC has no companions nor are there (80 chapters so far) any villains for him to fight against.
3. The author constantly forgets about powers that the MC has. For example he has a shield skill that he doesn't use against the ranker that almost killed him. The more this story progresses, the more skills the author will forget about.
4. Lots and lots of story time is spend on developing backstory about the gods of the tower that we have no reason to care about. I never liked the idea of gods because the more the story focuses on them the more it feels like the MC is just being used as a pawn in some 4D chess game being played by the gods.

I don't get why people say this is for Solo Leveling fans and some even claim it to be better than Solo Leveling. It's tear-jerkingly boring. The expositions are long, yet fail to make the worldbuilding clear and interesting. The characters are all one dimensional, from the ML all the way to monsters. The author set out to create a pragmatic and morally grey, possibly antihero ML but it doesn't work out here. For a story rooted on revenge, I cannot feel even a twinge of anger that is supposedly motivating the ML to do whatever he is doing. Thus there is no reason to be sympathetic towards him and root for him.

Well I know I shouldn't compare this way, but this really looks like a Solo Leveling rip off, characters artistic design are a bit weird, story is decently written but not that interesting.
characters relationships are also kinda rushed (well, like the story itself)
it's ok for me while waiting for Solo Leveling to start again.

As much as much as the manhwa solo leveling deserves some kind of success^^ the story, settings and the universe is nor original nor detailed. I've read the korean novel of solo leveling ( I alone level-up) from start to finish and it's absolute tr*sh like the writing of most LNs, there's no style and it's not worth your time, only the manhwa is.

This manhwa however seems to want to get a part of the success of the former and just rushes by copying every setting from other popular manhwa ( like Tower of God, the gamer or the artstyle of solo leveling). It's decent but it lacks soul and style and the start was failed but it gets better afterwards oddly enough;

As I said previously, the setting of solo leveling is not original at all and the novel is garb***, only the manhwa brought it to a decent level because with the format of a manhwa, the graphical style adds to a bare story telling from the LN, which lacked "style" (literature concept). The fans also are overhyping this kind of manhwa and think this is brand new while manga in the 90s or early 2000 did have much more complex settings than the one from solo leveling. Also Stop always comparing comics to solo leveling though, the ones that are copying solo leveling are brand new korean novels and manhwa from Korea, mangakas don't give two s**ts about solo leveling so keep that in mind.
A lot of people also seem to bash on some manhwa too saying it is copying SL while the former is often an adaptation from a korean novel that goes way back, way before the solo leveling novel or the gate/isekai/hunter hype train.

If you want to enjoy something and onc you're done forget it, this manhwa is for you, in more than one aspect it feels more liberating and free than SL which tends to be very enclosed and lacks the freedom of adventure or real social interactions.

Half-assed introduction, half-assed explanations, and often referencing events that the reader has no clue about. I don't know enough about the main character to give a crap about him, and I found reading this was incredibly boring.

This is soo good and similar to Solo Leveling

A must read if you like solo levelling, i like this type of manhwa, strong male lead is the best
