Mondonville Music Academy attracts thousands of elite musician applicants from around the world, but only 100 students are accepted into the program each year. But this year, Alistair Lang-who has no formal music training and is unable to even read a music score-is somehow accepted into the program as the 101st student! His classmates wonder how he even made it into the program, and proceed to treat him like an outcast, calling him, "the 101st". One day, during a violin lesson, Alistair steps up and begins to play his violin...

Very Cute

I really love the art and the story line is cute and funny. Most of the humor derives from Alice's clueless and impulsive behavior. So far, there's some light shounen ai (with only one character flirting teasingly with the main character) and I'm assuming if there is any romance at all in the future, it'll develop in a similar slow fashion like La Esperanca (that story occurred before this series with the main character in that series making an appearance as a supporting character in this one, which I personally enjoyed, of course, if you like the fast and furious romance, probably not for you). Unlike George, I found Alice more endearing. Who Alice develops any romantic interest with in the future is kind of up in the air right now, especially how Volume 3 ends. Alice himself is kind of a scatter brained akin to characters like Naruto, Natsu, Luffy.

Kind of hoping more volumes get released faster. It took a few years before volume 3 released. Definitely worth a read for those that enjoyed La Esperanca and music themed stories.

Reading 2 volumes, I still like it. What caught my attention was that the prodigy of this story is like a genius at playing violin. He's like a jewel that isn't polish yet, but a rough stone that have a big potential to shine. I laughed when he couldn't read the notes (especially the staple) and I'm looking forward to his potential growing.

high hopes for the future volumes

Aristide Lang aka Alice can only play one song perfectly but he can't even read music scores and has no knowledge of the basics but somehow because of this song he played in his entrance examination he was accepted into Mondonveille School of Music which is a prestigue music school. First volume gives you some hints of Alice's family background (his father is some legendary violinist that died very young) and that his grandfather wanted Alice to join the music school to follow the footsteps of his father. Have to read more volumes to continue judging this manga. There are some hints of shounen-ai in the first volume with Victor constantly hitting on Alice but after reading La Esperanca from the same author it'll be mild shounen-ai. I have high hopes for this manga being a fan of La Corda manga and La Esperanca I'll continue to support this manga. In terms of graphics and drawings similar to La Esperanca very beautiful characters.

Volume 2 gets even more interesting... what's Vick's relationship with Maxconfused Alice is actually pretty talented it's just that he doesn't read scores. Georges from La Esperanca is also in this volume too.
