A REAL MASTERPIECE

OMG, I rarely remember crying after finishing a manga, but hey, here it is...
Okay, if you want to cry, there are better options, because the manga isn't the most dramatic one. And you know what? It's a super hyper short story. But the best part of it is that it makes you think about religions, God, systems, human nature etc. You will think every utopia as a distopia and the reverse of it. It has been two years since I finished the manga, so I couldn't remember all details, but I know the fictional world and characters are very well designed and it is very touching story which will make you observe the world around you more. You sure will be a philosopher for minimum 3 days.

Fantastic

This is great, an absolute 10 out of 10. My first Furuya Usamaru story with an actual plot (the other one I read of him was Palepoli). The way the drawings of all the gears are drawn, the machines, the mesmerizing Labyrinth of the city of Pyrit, and the plot itself, always misteryous, with a surprising plot twist at the end of it. It's really great. I'm eager to read more by him.

PS (might be a spoiler):

When they take the dream-o-graph picture together at the beginning of the manga, Kai is nowhere to be seen. I hadn't guessed what had happened to him at first, but this is a nice foreshadowing.

Beautiful manga with a fatal flaw.. imho.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The moment last man, who remembered why machine-god was created, died - humanity was doomed. Humans became unable to understand and control even the slightest negative emotions almost ensuring complete chaos and probable end of humanity if Marie is ever stopped, by choice or by accident. After all - brains of psychopaths also never learn control over their desires.

Mind blowing...

The manga has, right from the beginning, quite a special atmoshpere. Actually, everything in this story is special. The people as well. In a way, it's an ideal world, where everyone is tolerant about everyone else.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The way everyone was so accepting of Pipi really floored me in retrospect. I fear in our society she would have been ostracised and seen as a mentally ill person.
Similar was, how everyone seemed to pray differently to different gods, but how they were all accepted as following the same god, non the less. So there's no religious discrimination.

The same as everyone else, the ending really blew me away... Never saw that one coming... But in retrospect, it was there, subtly, since the beginning. And for me, that's the different between a good story and a great one. This was definitley the latter.

what to expect

Completed reading and it did not turn out like I expected. Started good and got better till the ending that everything comes crashing and reality kicks in. So I recommend this to people interested in civilization, interested in stories with deep meanings and human restrictions. It will get you thinking about the world and God. My warning is for those reading it for romance, not a good choice there is some but very little. Remember to read the tags, helps sometimes.

1) Just read it - don't ask questions
2) This is a masterpiece

Word's can't describe how I felt at the ending. I wasn't able to get it out of my head for a month.

Some sites do not have the last chapter of this manga.

Unexpected and brilliant

This is one manga which has made me think a lot. it describes a utopian society which functions on barter system and peace. the description of the customs of this society forms an important part of the manga. the main themes explored are human nature and religious beliefs.
the plot is fantastically developed. during the first few chapters everything seems really random. it picks up pace after that concluding with a twist(you will never see it coming). you can really connect to the characters and can understand why they are doing what they are doing.
you will need some time after to retrospect. highly recommended.

Marie no Kanaderu Ongaku is not your typical manga. It is simply a manga about life and humans. The love humans have, the development of society and religion. To sum it up it is basically about the human nature (with an emphasis on God). Though the most interesting part is how society is shown in the manga, it is shown to be a futuristic past of today, with cogs and mechanism we would not have seen it to be today. On the other note, the drawing is spectacular, just read and you'll know smile I have to admit, this manga has one of the best endings I've ever read, it's unexpected and not typical. It was a lovely read, and it's only 2 volume so I suggest you should start reading bigrazz

this is so crazy yet so wonderful, so sedate yet so mind blowing, I'm screaming for one minute straight at the ending. I can''t believe it, everything is never what I expect it to be, I don't know what is real or everything is? i don't know how to put it into words, the impact of this manga on me, take me by the throat and choke me off stability, putting me on the edge and make me think in many different ways.
a great manga - a masterpiece, even. read it.

This one's got my cogs turning, but somehow makes me feel angry. Not as angry as the ending of School Days made me, but I am going to need some time to recuperate before reading another manga with a heavy story like this. It is most definitely a masterpiece.
