Interesting Story, Not For Everyone

It's a decent story, and I agree with Seregosa's review below this one. As was pointed out, there are several moments in the story that are difficult to read. The antagonists are worse than a lot of antagonists in these kinds of stories, and the main character seems just a bit too lackadaisical when things aren't immediately in his face.

But the world building is more extensive and the setting more mixed. There's a lot to like, but this is definitely not for kids or even younger teenagers. 18+

I like the cat girl and the mc isn't offensively bad, though he's generic and not the smartest around. He's a pretty typical japanese protagonist which means he's a bit too "kind" while also being somewhat stunted in intelligence and the decisions he makes. The people around him are a bit too one-dimensional too, but the manga as compared to the way worse original novel manages to make it work pretty good with nice art to complement the characters and also the fact that you can read this thing pretty fast while a novel really works wonders at making flaws shine through with how you get so many details and have to spend so much time.

I found the main cast of elf turned into teddy bear, cat girl that can morph forms and mc to be nice, they're a fun and happy go lucky trio that brightens the mood. I honestly found the other characters and various settings to be highly unpleasant however.

There's the rapey "heroes" that pay no regard to life or others whatsoever, they're essentially power tripping low-class moronic yet stereotypical delinquents. They couldn't be happier in their new circumstances as they received power at almost the peak of the world the instant they transferred over and quickly reached the actual peak, at the level of a demon king, with no effort whatsoever. So of course they're trippin' balls over their new power. So, what do they do? Randomly assault various countries for no good reason because they probably find it fun, massacre countless places and races and then rape whichever woman they fancy(preferably in front of others while holding a "serious" discussion) and kill everyone at any moment, including the captive women-turned-c*mbags their fellow companions captured, which at most elicits a jokey atmosphere where they're mad because their toy got broken, kinda like what you'd expect if someone broke your handheld game console, but it's nothing serious at the end of the day because they have no need for feelings or care with how the entire world is at their hands and they can get any woman they fancy.

The human race in this manga seem to think it's totally normal and fine.

Honestly, I don't usually care about rape or massacres and I've ready some truly gritty novels without flinching, but combined with these ultimate douchebags who gets their grubby hands on clearly outstanding women and kills countless innocents for no reason, it just rubs me the wrong way. Not that they rape and kill but rather the way the author writes it. These guys make the "heroes" in stories like shield hero look like saints, along with many more similar examples.

What pisses me off even further is that the protagonist clearly doesn't truly have it out for them, at most he just wants to get "one over them". He should've quickly heard the news and proceeded to make it his new goal to kill these asswipes, then it would be more bearable to see them play around because you know how satisfying it's going to be when they die a gruesome death. But that's usually not what happens in japanese novels(or manga in this case), it's more of chinese novel territory.

If the mc was a bit more intelligent and had a bit more determination to kill when necessary and to take revenge on the RESPONSIBLE parties that summoned him and then threw him down a cliff to die (which includes the 4 delinquents, the king, and practically everyone present, so basically just destroy the ruling parties of the kingdom), the girls by his side was a bit more complex in character setting and the heroes would be slightly less unpleasant or at least had to spend some time to level up from the start so they couldn't just start massacring willy-nilly everywhere, it would be a much better manga.

I'd especially enjoy if the author could've stopped using the whole "he's level 1/1, he's trash, no one wants to deal with him and everyone thinks he's trash" thing after the castle summoning fiasco. But no, everyone looks down on him because of his level. He defeats someone in an arena for money? Yeah, they're not gonna give you money because you're level 1. You practically get spat at for no reason by just walking down the street and everyone underestimates you. I can see why, but come on. Just how level fixated is that world? And even if it is, is it reasonable that they even do stuff like deny you money you earned after showing, in front of an entire arena, that you beat some dudes 3 against 1? Then there's the whole thing where his stats often appears out of sync with his ability. Oh, and the author clearly thinks that people looking down on him is funny, it gives me some konosuba flashbacks. Konosuba which was kinda fun in its anime format but it quickly got old and the novel was nigh unreadable after a while because of the characters. For example, in his first quest, he killed a humongous beast for a quest. He drags it back and leaves blood all over etc. So, then instead of a reward, he gets debt because of the cleanup efforts and supposedly other costs. You're telling me a very powerful monster whose parts can be used for various things like creating equipment, not to mention the meat, as well as the subjugation cost, is quite a lot less than what you have to pay for dirtying a medieval street and disturbing the neighbors? He's such a pushover it's sad and the calculations of this author probably stops at elementary school level.

Nah, I don't know about this. 7/10 because I enjoyed the synergy between the mc, the elf/teddy bear and cat girl. I especially liked the cat girl. Even if mindless, stupid and with a crappy story and world building that makes me lose brain cells as soon as I think of it, it's a pleasant read nonetheless because I like isekai and OP main characters and it had some other nice parts a well, the art was pleasant and suiting too, I just wish the author could grow up and think a bit further about various settings and decisions he made. Any good author should always ask themselves if their decisions are TRULY logical or good given the basic world premise.

Villains that are evil for no good reason just because they should be evil and a mc that is kind for no good reason other than they should be kind, a cat girl that is hyper and stupid just for the sake of being hyper and stupid, conflicts that are bloody and brutal just for cheap shock value. Come on, surely one can do a bit better than that, like giving more than one reason for each thing. The delinquents/heroes should have reasons to act the way they do, same with everyone and everything else. Nothing happens out of nowhere, everything has a reason and nothing is ever the result of just one impetus and things certainly doesn't just pop out of thin air. The novel instant death also had a scenario where basically everyone lost their inhibitions to kill and so on, but even then it was far from this extreme. But this manga hasn't given any reason for their actions other than basically "it's who they are and they're power tripping so now they're evil incarnate... despite being heroes". Cool.

Oh, I also really enjoyed the setting where humans are actually a minority race instead of majority and there are a lot of various fun races, pretty much each with their own kingdom/territory, everything from humanoid roosters to the seal(the animal) version of lamias and that there are fun settings like cat sith/cat girls that get drained of energy go into a low-power normal cat form (a form they can also actively take whenever they feel like it). It's to the point where humans are a comparatively rare sight. I wish more novels would have a setting like this and it was one of the saving graces this had. It sounds like I'm complaining a lot but except for the scenes with the trash "heroes", I had quite a bit of fun reading this because the manga solves most of the issues the novel had, which was in the details and time taken to read each part. I'll keep on reading this for sure though. At least the "hero" parts aren't that common and the stuff with the mc is a fun little adventure comedy. Honestly his power and the whole abyss setting is pretty nice too. So, while it's certainly flawed it's better than a lot of other manga out there in entertainment value.

Actual character development!?

Currently at chapter 20.
There is solid development for a few characters. Overarching plots, yes multiple, and decent thought provoking dialogue.

If you read the comment left by "Mekronid" you may be inclined to actively pass on this due to a missed observation about morality.

TL;DR: Give it a shot, it's damn decent.

*Spoiler*
The character gets bonuses for every corpse he absorbs. His mentor does tell him not to use the skill, but only in a certain way. . .She forbids him from desecrating graves, disturbing the resting dead--it's a matter of ethics. Plus, it's difficult to do a decent power progression story if the MC can just jump into a cemetery and be ungodly once he understands how the power works. ;p

It has a nice build up but more chapters are needed to actually confirm. Still a good read though. Looking for raw for manga and the novel.

Then the MC gets a "master" who constantly tells him he can't use his Absorb Corpse skill. You know, the one the manga is based on?

Meanwhile, his compatriots are busy razing the very tenets of civilization. Let's see... End of the world, or not end of the world? Difficult decision!

Hard pass on this manga.
