I think it was really really great and I binge read this 4 season giant in a day, so I'll have to read it again soon 😁
First, it's rare that a mystery comic translated from another language is ever understandable at all. A lot usually gets lost in translation and I usually just read for the couple. But I was able to follow this one the entire time. The only questions I had were intentional by the author. I definitely read closely though because I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.
I couldn't put it down! This was really impressive for many reasons, including the ending haha. This is some of the best art I've ever seen, and the symbolism throughout was beautiful, poetic, and intriguing.
I LOVE these MCs, they're complicated enough that they're not flat, they each have a beautiful growth cycle, and they're both a bit cheeky,
And I really liked the ending. I believe a lot of people were looking for the perfect happy ending and I believe this was a very believable ending.
The ending was happy, and there was somewhat of a "snap your fingers, the bad guys gone" but honestly not when you think about it. The display of Ideun protecting the prosecutor was the same as the bad guy when he was a child. It's the first time he's shown a mirror of himself truly, and he's seeing his father looking back. His hatred of his father is what has justified all of his actions, people rarely believe they're doing the WRONG thing. But seeing himself turn into his father, his 'evil' he's fighting against, truly would drive him mad. Beautifully poetic honestly. And the father's response in the side stories of why he hated the brother so much "Because he looked like his father," the same reason the brother hated our MC. Just beautiful CHEF'S KISS! Unfortunately, no the family isn't punished despite allowing the brothers abuse to go on. And that's exactly how it would be in real life. Once you're an adult, it's rare the abuser is ever punished let alone the people who didn't stop it. That being said, it says in the side story right away that he has let go of his attachment to those bad relationships. Which is the most chance of happiness he has. Many SA survivors choose to never confront their abusers and it's important to respect that choice. Familial abuse comes with many many complicated emotions so a lot of people wish to live separate lives regardless of punishment. It's as happy of an ending it could be without being completely unrealistic.
I highly recommend reading this to everyone!
