Description

I woke up inside my favorite novel, not as the protagonist, Luca Winterwald, but as Judith, his abusive aunt, and the first character to die—time for a rewrite! I’ll hand Luca off to his loving, long-lost uncle as scripted, and then live my own life far from danger. At least, that was the plan. When his uncle arrives, Luca suddenly calls out, "Don’t leave!" Now, I must protect Luca from impending family tragedy, raise him to become the hero, and turn this villainess’s ending upside down!

I like that she’s starting to assume that characters will be different from the novel and is preparing for it. You don’t see many FLs do that, and I’ve never understood why 🙄

She's a smart FL. Look, she can even roll with the punches. She even made a resolution in just one night about her feelings with Rudi. She's not an idiot who is blind to clues and whatnot. She also tried to communicate, the only problem is Rudi. Lmao. I like her a lot ✨

When the both of them are treading so carefully 😭 I love the tension but it also breaks my heart to see Judith so disappointed. Their romance and relationship actually feels mature, and that is such a nice change of pace from many younger or more fast-paced romances. I like it.

love how he's got problems and seems like other emotionally constipated MLs, but in reality, he just doesn't give a shit about the things that don't directly interest him. As a result his social skills are way out of practice, but it's solely due to a lack of wanting to instead of being unable to from some tragic circumstance.

This is so cute! They are just perfect for each other! And I really like how the FL is opportunistic! I hate it when they are just willy nilly... Yas queen protect your man from others grabby hands and go for the money!

Women looking at a broken system and choosing to put themselves at risk for the sake of lifting up and protecting other women in spite of the internalized bullshit beliefs they've been taught will never stop being my favorite story trope/ plot beat. gosh, i really admire this FL. and the other women in this story too.

theres one thing about this manhwa that ive learned, its that the women arent as one dimensional as they seem. the author used common villainess tropes that made us think we understand the character

(judith: hated luca bc of his looks, not bc she was jealous like we initially thought, but bc he didnt resemble her sister.

-there are other instances too bc this manhwa is lowkey a feminist masterpiece in that sense). it might not be for the most valid reasons (see: judith abusing luca lmfao) but it makes the characters more realistic. just women making mistakes and doing their best to make up for them. such is life

I can’t believe it’s over…

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the brains of the characters in this story. It’s confusing, but that kind of complexity I really appreciate. Most of it was trying to understand the Winterwald dynamic. I feel like I was tricked into liking a lot of characters that I shouldn’t have, or didn’t like in the beginning. I can’t be too mad about it though.

I think Judith and Reudinger (how do you spell his name?) are a wonderful couple, but I kind of wished that their romance had progressed a bit differently. I feel like maybe the jump in relationship status was too dramatic, and although I did like that Ruedinger was impressed by her from the beginning, I think that kind of made their meeting feel a little cheap too? He really wasn’t the kind of guy to immediately fall in love like that, no matter who.

I also wish that more time had been spent on Judith’s and Luca’s relationship. Don’t get me wrong, it gets a lot of screen time, but there were times where I found myself wondering what he was doing and why Judith hadn’t interacted with him in a while… I wanted more heartfelt talks. Because poor Luca had an awful time and though she felt guilty and mentioned it in her thoughts, those feelings more often than not were not communicated to him.

The second half of the story was sadly not as good as the first. I still enjoyed reading it, but I felt that the palace and grandpa arc dragged on for a little too long rather than focusing on the real threat.

Well, I still liked this comic and am thinking of reading the novel.

The plot twists and mysteries are a little insane. That’s a good thing about this book.

Generic concept but amazing execution. Love the quirky characters and their dynamics (especially the relationship between the royal family and stubborn grandfather).

It's good. Our mc isn't anyone special, she's very much supposed to be the everyday woman. Not especially intelligent or talented or anything. There are a few few occasions where she clearly makes the suboptimal move or just makes mistakes and I can be frustrated. But she's a strong character, in that she's strong in character, she's sincere in protecting the ones she cares for...though sometimes she should be a little less distracted.

Male lead is also nothing special, exactly. Not in a great way. But he is different in that he's unempathetic, or rather indifferent, to many in a way that you'd not expect of a hero. No qualms in firing a bunch of employees even if some innocents are mixed in. Rather than not caring that they'd struggle financially, the thought won't even occur to him. So he's special in that sense, while still being duty-driven. So a decent character overall.

Other male lead we're purposely not let into the thoughts of in matter related to plot. But his secret you can figure out fairly easily maybe five or so chapters, definitely in later ones. Which kind of makes it irrelevant that they don't just come out and say it?

Anyways. So the premise is she is brought along when her nephew is taken in to be a noble heir. But htis series isn't really a political drama. Most maneouverings are reactive. It's not quite a romance, though that does pick up in the later parts of season 2. I guess it's just us..following a woman thrown into these circumstances? Hard to pin-down a genre.

Very very low-magic setting. I expect the ONLY time that magic will be relevant here is to explain the isekai/returnee thingy.

the art, ML and Luca are fantastic. I wish the story could pick up the pace more. I wish Luca had more character development and story involvement because at this point he seems to be the character with the most room for (rapid) growth

It's start really promising, than gradually became almost unbearably slow. Although the MC know how the novel should be going, she dosn't really use her knowledge, just go with the flow. There is a twist that was hinted from the very begining and in ch 75 finally aknowledge it, only for saying it will be explained later.
The art is really pretty so you can still enjoy it, but be prepared it's progress rather slowly.

Average FL and typical dark haired ML. Nothing special, and the plot is largely centered around the romance and the FL just going along with what she's told to do, and where she's told to go. 53 chapters in and she's done nothing. What has been flipped or changed except that she was nice to the nephew before the ML arrived? Pretty art, but I'm bored and may drop if it doesn't pick up in the next few chapters

The art is nice and the plot is fine, nothing fresh and original but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

When you really stop and think about it though, the FL has done nothing. She cared for the boy for one month and after that she sat in the room having a certain emotionally oblivious ML try to woo her. Yes I know she read the book and has some memories of her past, but when she is faced with challenges like entering the aristocratic world and having proper etiquette or finding ways to protect her nephew, she has done nothing at all.

She doesn't study or try to improve her etiquette, and yet she hopes not to create any openings. She is told to stay away from someone, and of course she does the opposite and only causes problems instead of solutions. She worries about the assassins and yet she really hasn't done a thing to gather information. I understand she lacks resources but at this point if you take away all the fluff between the FLnd the ML, you realize she hasn't done anything at all.

its wholesome. the ml is hot. its a little uncomfortable when they sorta say theyre related (which happened too often for me to just forget about it and enjoy the romance) but i cant tell if that was a mistranslation or if they actually are related. and if they are related i could probably forgive it if theyre really distantly related. but they just seem to keep mentioning it and its so awkward.
that is my biggest pet peeve with this one.
theres a scene where ml shoots a guy on a train and i was so shocked when i was reading. that part was super fun lol.
