Description
In Hell, Tobe has been tortured for 300 years now, and his spirited desire to be free doesn't show any signs of fading. Tobe is given a final chance to make up for all the sins he committed while alive on Earth: he must use the legendary sword, Togari, to defeat and destroy 108 Sins in 108 days.

So Tobe is sent to modern-day Japan, and even though things aren't exactly like the Japan he remembers, he must defeat the 108 Sins in time to be free again.

I read this a while back and am now only adding it to my lists. This is an incredible story. Which is saying alot for me. This manga is NOT my type at all but it still manage to hold my attention. And by not my type I mean not by a long shot. Check out my lists if you want to see what I mean. I also just saw that it has a sequel and now I can't wait for it!

Slow development, decent plot, and O.K. art, all in all it wasn't as great as I expected... In the end it was lacking, extremely. Honestly, if your going to develop a story near the end, what would be the point at ending it 68 chapters into it? Sure it doesn't bother me to not know what became of him after the 108 days, but the development between the characters was just progressing. If you want give it a read, its all on personal opinions...

Not a good ending

Hmm... what can i say about this manga... well i like the premise of the story, very intresting to see evil defeating evil. The development of the charaters were a little slow but steady and the action is entertaining enough to keep me reading to see what happens next. The one thing that bugs me though is the ending, how the hell can they end it like that, if the don't make part two of the manga it would really suck.

I'll give a 7.5 just because the ending pissed me off, but everything else is ok, so give it a read if you have time to waste.

Meh..somewhere in the late 40's I got bored of reading this...his whole change in personality just seemed too quick for me...He himself went to hell and even though all he's been doing is fighting with hatred, he starts lecturing other people about their lives..wtf...a drop-out doesn't teach students calculus...thats reality...they ignored that concept here. The action just seemed good at first but after a while its the same old stuff over and over...

Ending.

I actually really liked this series. And while the end does seem a little abrupt, I found that it flowed with the rest of the series well. The characters change slowly, so it seems that there isn't much characterization, but if you really look, you can see that they're decently developed. One of the pet peeves I had was that
Spoiler (highlight to view)
The White Darkness guy (whatever his name was), resembled Tobe so much. I was really expecting a reason for that, such as they were distantly related, or something. In the end, all it meant was that they were similar in their experiences of the world. *sigh*

Also, I know that the whole manga is about exploring the darkness of the human soul, but you hear the word "darkness" so often, it's reminiscent of a Kingdom Hearts cutscene.

Good series....BUT!

Good series. It did get a little dye at spots but never for too long. The ending was beyond crappy though. WAY to open ended. think of it as ending any manga right in the middle of a big story arc. I think the mangaka just woke up one morning and said "I think i'll end Togari next chapter".

The Ending was SUPERB!

The ending was superb as it should be. You all should know that in the first place, Tobe remained as he was before, but now had a better perspective on the reality thanks to the people whom he had helped. In the end, he doesn't want to take orders from anybody and still continues on to pursue his mission. However, the story mentioned half of 108 days remained, so there's a possibility that the mangaka has interest to open a new scenic stage for us readers. In the end, we should all know that Tobe isn't living in that era but just doing his greater purpose.

HORRIBLE ending, good opening.

ARRGHH! What an annoying ending! It so.. open..

Anyway, I LOVED the first 4 volumes or so. Then it started getting stupid. He should've just stayed evil. If I reread it again at all, it'll just be the first 4-5 volumes.

Horrible ending... HORRIBLE!

As people already mentioned, the ending is horrible. Seriusly.
The manga just ends abruptly, like an "open ending".
Most likely the mangaka got tired of drawing the manga and just finished it.
That's the only explanation there is...
The art is good. The story is good. If the mangaka had just finished it it would definetly deserved an 8 or 9. But with the ending the rating dropped below 5...

Most horrible ending ever

It`s a nice and simple read, I liked the art, especially the drawings of the Togaris, the story isn`t anything special but above average. I think the inner conflicts of the characters are a little bit exaggerated but not too much that I would consider it as unrealistic. I would give this manga a straight eight if the ending wouldn`t be so horrible. Because there isn`t one, it`s more like a volume is missing, it`s not even an open ending the story simply stops.
