Description

Oh Kangwoo the Demon King has had it with ruling over Hell and wants to return to Earth.

But when he finally gets there, not only are his powers sealed, but the Earth he once knew has turned into an MMORPG free-for-all.

Dimensional gates have appeared all over the world, and "players" enter them to make a living by hunting monsters. If Kangwoo wants to survive in this dangerous game, he's going to have to level up, and fast.

Regular Overpowered hero/antihero genre manhwa.

For those of us who love the genre of overpowered hero/antiheroes, here is another manhwa that delivers at most a 4-star rating in terms of entertainment value.

This time our main character is the villain of the story who survived 10,000 years in hell and became the demon king. After getting too bored with life in hell and craving earth dishes, he decides to return to earth. With most of his demon king powers locked up, he starts his power-up-to-infinity trip to regain his powers.

The nice thing about the story is how we get to see his human side (the MC is the villain), yet how his corruption level keeps showing up as the story progresses, reminding us from time to time that we are indeed following the villain.

The story was good enough to keep my attention but not engaging enough to get me completely invested, hence the 4-star rating. For fans of this overworked genre, this will be good enough to fill in when there's nothing better to read.

It doesn’t make me feel things

It has a nice combat visuals and art but, from the 10000 years he survived in hell, he has neither the skill nor the wisdom to show for it (Fuan Yuans doing amazing with his 500 years? I mean you lived 100x the regular lifespan. I’d be more understanding if you forgot your humanity but for your reflexes and combat skill to be comparable to a young guild master is quite disappointing) Sometimes it even starts to get unbearable how, with the variety of weapons or skills freely at his disposal, he still resorts to the weird daggers growing from his arms. But In reality I’m just looking for a show to pass the time not really a story to delve into, so I’m fine with a dungeon fantasy with good art.

Nice art, but that's about it

The backstory in this one is largely irrelevant. He could've woken up with amnesia and the gluttony power in a gate and the story would effectively be the same. He doesn't act like someone who has lived 10000 years, especially not 10000 years away from human civilization. That's longer than human civilization has even existed in our world, yet he remembers every facet of his life prior to his time in hell. He knows every word, law, and concept from that time and doesn't struggle to communicate with anyone outside of the new player and gate systems. Even those he understands in literal pages.

The other characters are weak as hell too. Every single one just exists to further the power fantasy. Women love him and men want to be him. Antagonists only exist to make him look better as he effortlessly crushes them and have no existence outside of their relationship to him. It's so bad the first woman he meets watches him brutalize and torture a guy harassing her, and all she thinks is "he saved me again uwu~" rather than "Oh, they're both terrible psychos and I should distance myself."

Even the battles are kinda subpar. He never struggles and outright forgets 99% of his abilities in combat, instead resorting to stabbing and slashing til the enemy is dead. You'd think giving your MC a variety of powers like illusions and mind tricks could lead to some neat moments, but nope, these powers only exist to grease the wheels of plotholes outside of combat.

It's just not that good. If all you're looking for is a power fantasy with nice art, though, you might be satisfied.

The series is pretty mediocre and was carried by it's artstyle and visuals. It became bland in season 2

It was obvious that the 10 000 years, his powers unlocking with the levels and the doors sealing another part of his powers, sounded as a terrible excuse to ass pull power ups later on, whenever the author wanted. The action and amoral MC made up for those posible developments ... That is until we are presented with the other guardians. From that point onwards the most forced plot ever starts to advance telling us little by little some of the recurring elements. BUT the MC turns into an edgy asshole and the author uses edgy boxed logic to kill of whoever he wants while leaving the MC in a "superior" moral standing, wining even when he should lose.

All this together with how hypocritical the MC, his lack of initiative and the nonexistent challenges makes the manwa feel like a third rate incremental rpg game on easy mode. I mean FFS the progres outside the status window of his allies is nonexistent.
