Three years ago, a gateway between Earth and the Beyond opened over the city of New York. In one terrible night, New York was destroyed and rebuilt, trapping New Yorkers and extra-dimensional creatures alike in an unassailable island, a world all its own hidden in the mist of its physics-defying waterfalls.
New York has been rechristened Jerusalem's Lot, a paranormal melting pot where magic and madness dwell alongside the mundane, where every form of human vermin gathers to exploit otherworldly assets for earthly profit. Now someone is threatening to breach the controlled flow of unharmful,... More...

UPDATE April 2015 UPDATE: As of episode 2 of the anime, my friends and I love it!
Original comment:
The location! The enemies! The protagonists & ensemble! The subway that announces your chance for returning alive if you take it (only 12% on one subway in the second volume)! The fight with an
And the fog. The deeper you go, the less you can see and the less likely you'll make it back alive OR dead, 'cause humans have nummy, nummy corpses!
Protecting the balance of this world is the impossible task that our grumpy group of heroes/fighters/previously innocent previously bystanders have taken on. My favorite quote is from one of the grumpier yet gentlemanly heroes, said while blood drips like sweat from beneath his burned and burning eyes, in the middle of the aforementioned fight with the
I've wanted an 11 button for the ratings section once or twice before, but for this one... I dunno... 15? Hundred? Thousand? Yeah, that's about right: 15 hundred thousand and steadily improving.
Due to money stuff I get most of my English-language manga from the library, but this one was so good I bought volume 2 a month before it shipped. I might even get later volumes in Japanese so I can stumble through them sooner.
Get these books. Make your library get them, too.
(Oh, VawX, about your review, the 3rd is not the last chapter. I've read up through chapter 6 plus omakes. Also, someone changed the summary after you commented, so it is now correct. Thanks for pointing it out!)
UPDATE: As of October 2013, I now have paid cash money out of my cashless pocket for unused paper volumes up to volume 4 in English and 5 & 6 in Japanese. I discover new things as I reread them.
But DAYUM, volume 4 has 2 chapters that compete with my previous fave that I mention above from volume 2! Bare-knuckle madness! And then, that car? And that brain? Good job, Dark Horse, BTW.

it seems the summary is all about the oneshot..
well i already read the first 3 chapters,
and the story is different from the oneshot (even the main character is different)
and then i found that this series actually already completed...
the last chapter is the 3rd...

A pretty good shonen manga. It's a little fast-paced, well at least in the beginning, but the action-scenes and drawings are awesome. If you're into mangas from the supernatural genre, you should definitely check this one out!
