It all goes downhill in the end arc, eren character changes abruptly two times, but the worst offender - by far - is Ymir.

flesh mecha

mecha story in medieval time without ''magic'' so you get flesh mecha
every mecha story is boring so the author wanted to make it more spicy
I won't eat rotten food even is you put spice on it
I don't call a duck a tree
So put that mecha tag so that people that hate mecha don't lose their time.
and for those that think flesh mecha aren't mecha then evengelion isn't a mecha story ether for you it would seen.

AOT left a big impression.. one that I won't forget about years down the line. A lot of people are caught up in experiencing perfection that they forget the impact that this story had and how difficult that is to achieve in this genre. That being said, the story should've ended earlier on because it was cycling through the same theme over and over again.. Personally, the magic disappeared as soon as I realized the underlying meaning was about the cycle of revenge/war so how it ended was kind of trivial. I don't think this series deserves such low ratings though considering there are relatively wayy worse manga out there..

Don't listen to the critiques from manga elitist.. They have exquisite taste and nobody can satisfy them..
This is a modern classic..
Plenty of plot twists, easter egg and memorable moment..
10/10 for me and other like minded...

After thinking about the story as a whole I had to lower it's score.

Initially, I gave this manga a fairly high score. However, after I thought about it for a bit the amount of plot holes and/or stupid plot points ruined my overall "ending feeling". Don't get me wrong, I still think this is one of the better mangas out there and it is worth the read but I feel like the mangaka, while talented in some aspects, was lacking in keeping things within lore he already established or just simply didn't explain why something happened but rather is just did.

How exactly are Titans removed from the world? The manga doesn't really explain it. The lore dictates that if a Warrior is killed and power is not transferred it would reappear in a newborn. So many motivations are explained through the series about this fact, yet killing Eren, in titan form I may add, kills him for good along with all titans. It's simply explained as "Eren did it".

It almost felt rushed towards the end.

Epilogue is ok.

Mikasa thing hit hard for me but it is what it is. I feel like the story may repeat itself as the new kid found Eren's resting place that looks suspiciously like the tree Ymir went into went she got her titan powers. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a sequel.

Really great story

The story was a really good read with plenty of twists and foreshadowing that kept me wanting more. It had multiple likeable characters with their own flaws and strengths which is lacking in many mangas.

Overall the art was decent, the story was great. Though like most manga I’ve read, the epilogue and ending arc were a bit of a let down compared to the rest of the series.

AoT might be one of the most intriguing series of its kind. Although Titan is basically human, it is in the end basically a monster with their sheer size and superiority over humans. Still throughout the series, humans fought and found a way to go toe to toe with the monsters and it has been where the strength of the series lies.

Still the way the author choose to unravel the Titan mystery and the way to solve the innate problem of the threat Titans bring to the world, was rather poor. One development after another feels like something thought on spot rather than a fruit of a long planned plot coming out together in the end. Such can be felt throughout where one character would make dubious decision, and then another, and then another one.

Even so, the author at least managed to keep it tense until the end and cover for those dissatisfaction. Isayama-san has all the right to pick the end of his story, and I won't criticize him for that, since, unlike for example TG:re, AoT's end is a wholesome. In short, it is great action series, but the plot is so so.

Eren basically throws away whatever he has stood for and...

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Ymir Firtz basically created 2000 yrs of shit-show just to watch a girl kiss her lover’s decapitated head.

It doesn’t even make sense why Ymir’s emotional satisfaction is enough to end Titan curse. When Ymir was just a normal girl and got Titan powers because of a parasite-worm. But somehow the worm magically vanishes off-screen after Ymir Firtz watches Mikasa kiss eren’s head, instead of transferring the curse to a random Eldian child at it should. Wasn’t the worm fighting to survive in ch, 138. Why the heck it disappeared magically in ch, 139, just because Ymir was magically satisfied?

A freaking masterpiece... Until that last arc...

The plot twists throughout the whole series, the characters, the story, everything is simply a masterpiece, but a certain Hajime Isayama decided one day that he wanted to do the last arc the way he did, and tell the final chapter the way we told it.

The last arc and the last chapter are simply absurd,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
"Armin I killed half your friends, let's fuck" and "Hey, after ruining each other's lives, let's be friends to take Eren down (Even though it actually benefits all eldians, and what's he's doing is the only way to ensure Paradis is not utterly destroyed by the remaining 20% of the world, that is by far greater in numbers that the million and something habitants that we actually are in Paradis, not to mention they probably have stuff like bombs, since that 20% means that probably entire nations are A-okay and unwounded for the most part, and have even more reason to retaliate as soon as they can, because there's literally not a single reason not to wipe us out, and we don't even have the titans anymore)"

I did my best to like the ending but it contradicts pretty much 9/10 things that ever happened throughout the story. It's not a bad ending, but that is if it were to be the ending of a 6/10 manga and not a masterpiece like SNK was (until that last arc).

Way to ruin a manga. Just read until chapter 124 and then pretend the rest was just a dream. Anyways, thank you Isayama sensei, you made a great manga, and it was a pleasure to read it (Until just before that last arc ugghhhhhhhhhhhh)
