Description
The world of Velveteen & Mandara is a dystopia. Tokyo where the youth used to waste their time search for answers, is now barren. Reality and hallucination are blended wonderfully into this work. Where neither you nor the characters inside have much in the way of understanding what is going on in the best possible way.
There are offensive scenes including a woman graphically defecating all over and a lot of nudity and sexual references, but its played in such a way where its more hilarious and engaging than any kind of negative.
The art is messy and heavy and really works when showing the broken state of the characters and their surroundings.

with two girls unreliable in their perception and memory, the readers will never separate reality and delusion. especially since the world they apparently live in is not the reality we are used to, so its harder to differentiate. the story itself is not bad, if only the author do not purposely make it hard for readers to understand.
This manga is pretty good, but there isn't a real way for someone to understand the story. It's hard because one minute you have Mandara and Becchin as best friends, fighting side by side, then the next minute they turn on each other!!
It's also confusing because we know that Becchin is a bit schizo, since she hallucinates, so does that mean what we read wasn't real the whole time? We don't know because there's nothing to prove it or not, and then how are these girls going to Karaoke and all? i thought the town was destroyed? Very confusing, extreme, very wierd, but awesome manga IMO.

Then Becchin is sitting with a psychiatrist, and him saying Mandara was in her head.. And made up.

I may have to re-read this, as I barely understood anything the first time. Still, it's interesting--in the same way that having your brains eaten by zombies might be interesting.
Definitely agreeing with the person below me. Though I do like that line near the opening, "I will kill them all and then rape their dead bodies." That is memorable...mostly because you don't often have a female character say something like that. I actually started laughing, which drew the unwelcome attention of everyone around me who then questioned my sanity. Anyway...Mandara's a weird chick and considering what I just saw in this manga...even put into perspective she's still weird -.-
That's all I can say.... a random assortment of random psychotic breakdowns that barely has any chronological order half the time. In the end it went to just total insanity..... oh and there are some REALLY nasty scenes.
