Description
Ikuto Touhohin just had a last fight with his old man, one that led him to make a rash decision to run away from home. He boards a ship, deciding to take a vacation, but the ship is suddenly hit by a huge storm--one that sends Ikuto overboard! When he regains consciousness, he realizes he is still alive… on some island. An isolated island. An isolated island with nothing but girls and talking animals. Stranded on an island with only girls, no electricity, gas, radio, television… like he was back in the stone age.

Thirsty

Could you use the new manga buzz word '"Thirsty", more ? They only used it 5 or 6 times in chapter 165. Like "Vigin Killer", 6 months ago, I'm sure everyone would like to see it used at least 10 more times a chapter. NOT !

Peaceful, happy adventure with a bit of fan service.

It's an easy going, simple comedy series. At a pace of a volume per year or half year, it's fine. Characters are funny & lovely. Nothing really new here but a good combination of story, graphical and character design.

At a slow pace and in an occasional reading mode, over the years, the characters has changed from fresh & cute into nostalgic....

Don't expect dramatic stories, strong emotional development, depression or serious plot here... Even the fan service scenes are mostly rather 'reserved' ...

Slow in pace, but entertaning

This manga is pretty slow as far as developments go, but each chapter never really fails to be entertaining. It starts out pretty much like you'd expect, all the women chasing after him, but over time it develops more into a slice of life type story where you learn more about each of the characters and the island they're all stuck on.

This manga is pretty much the furthest thing away from being a serious romance I can think of, but it's a pretty strong contender for the moe blob front line. There are quite a few scenes that make you go "Dawww" and there is quite a bit of action in the manga as well.

As the series goes on, the pairings for the characters seems like they're becoming more and more concrete which is a real shame since all the girls are awesome in their own way. Also, after 118 chapters, there doesn't really seem to be an end in sight, in fact, more and more things are slowly being revealed which in turns raises more and more questions. It doesn't really give me hope that we'll get everything resolved in the event the series is axed and I really want a proper resolution to the story of this island.

Overall, I'd say read this if you like slice of life, a bit of romance and mystery, and some action with tons of slapstick comedy mixed in to boot. This manga won't redefine any genres or change your life, but it should do a decent job of keeping you entertained. Be warned that it's been going on since 2003 and while the series is very entertaining, there is a possibility of a lame end (something that is not uncommon). Enjoy the ride you get basically.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Most of the cast are under age. Suzu hasn't even had her period yet according to some of the earlier chapters. It makes some of what goes on a bit on the "..." side of things. But since the overall age between the characters isn't much, it's not creepy in that way, but if you stop and think about it you can't help but facepalm

Once, long ago, I did come to this series expecting a strong story and plot. Let me tell you flat-out: don't come looking for a sophisticated plot. I gave up on that idea a while ago and am just reading these chapters for fun. Though this series is "plot deprived", each chapter is a fun read, and is a good time killer.

Good series going nowhere

This is a good series if you don't mind the lack of any real story and the zero plot progression. Its funny, but should be taken in small doses due to the fact that nothing much happens, a lot of stuff just repeats. If the plot progressed anywhere instead of staying in an endless, dragged out loop, it'd easily be a 9.

Daily Life in not quite Paradise

Nagasarete Airantou began as a simple harem/fan-service manga of a stranger in a strange land, but as the protagonist is no longer a total outsider it has gradually evolved into something more as the stories focus less on the main characters and try to give everyone time to shine. This makes the story and the characters increasingly more organic in feel...if still slightly comically exaggerated.

was promising, now childish and rubbish

Beginning was quite promising but things was obviously heading toward adult rating. So author turned volume down and made story increasingly more childish and rubbish. Now manga repeating itself with themes like cute weird animals, strange food, stupid adventures, lil-girl version of game get yourself a hubby.

... but I like it. I swear, as I read this, it reminds me of Harvest Moon, with a twist. I have always been a huge fan of Harvest Moon, so to find a manga that reminds me of it, is a plus. Give it a try, is my suggestion.

Nice harem series (miko sisters is my favourite.), the protogonist is not a boring one, eventhough he is unbelievably dumb. lol..

Funny joke, cute art, nice story development (slow pace, but quite fun to read)

Interesting setting. Nice drawings. Cute talking animals. A martial artist chicken. Huge cast of funny and loveable characters. Enjoyable comedy and romance with adequate amount of ecchi and harem moments. Can be quite heartwarming at times.

I haven't read that far, but i wish Ikuto's sister can join him on the island someday (unlike the anime's alternate ending, which was quite disturbing and absurd) and that more about their family is revealed (like what the fight with the father was about). I also hope that the islanders will finally be free to come and leave the island anytime they want, but not affecting the story in a bad way but still remain interesting and fun. Well, these are just my thoughts.

Just plain fun to read. A very good romcom harem manga.

(To orrchids; there are also tornadoes blocking)
