Minazuki Yuu is one of my favorite mangakas - the Sayonara Game series was one of the first manga purchases I ever made, and I own more of her works than by any other mangaka, so I've been working on reading her non-English-scanlated works. I think sensei's strength is in taking cliché premises and making them work with realistic character development that makes potentially unlikeable characters likeable. That…does not happen here, at least in the first 4 chapters. There’s gaslighting and other emotionally abusive behavior, lots of questionable consent, and caricatured characters.

Sadistic student body president Kasagi Ryohei (17ish, third year of high school) bullies his childhood friend Takashi Azuma (15ish, first year of high school), including forcing the Azuma to give him a blowjob in the haunted house of the culture festival. In the flashback chapter 4, Ryohei (14ish, third year of middle school) having recently realized his attraction to Azuma (12ish, first year of middle school), gets into the shower with him at the waterpark despite Azuma’s protests, hugs him (again despite protests), pops a boner, tells Azuma it’s just a physiologic response, and gropes his crotch. At the end of that chapter (having returned to the present), Ryohei thinks, “Now, having completely eaten up my cute childhood friend, the next step is planning how to train him. Now the good part of the show begins” and the chapter ends with the preview line “Sexual harassment is trending upwards in intensity…!!”

I read the first 5 chapters (of 7) because that’s what I could find online in Chinese; chapter 5 (and the Japanese raws I saw of chapter 7, which I can’t read) seemed like things might actually get a little better (more consensual, as well as more nuanced emotions) but chapters 1-4 were so awful, I can’t imagine chapter 6 being enough to redeem them.

Gave a couple of rating points for pretty art as always and for chapter 5. Otherwise, pretty much anything else by this mangaka is better.
