Narumi Detective Agency is where the people of very early modern Japan go to for help with mysterious and supernatural cases. But Narumi is just the face and occasional fist of the operation—the real hero is Kuzunoha Raido, the devil summoner, a stoic young man who seems to seek no credit for his accomplishments. As a powerful devil summoner, Raido can call upon many different demons to assist him in solving cases that deal with other demons causing harm in the human world.

Lately, there has been a surge of cases. A powerful summoner seems to be behind all these incidents. Is the Narumi-Raido combo—plus the latter's talking cat familiar—strong enough to overcome a demon force more powerful than anything they have experienced before?

I fell into this one by accident...

...and. I. LOVE IT!!! The sharp art! The poses—even when simply catching a bag of coffee beans! The careful use of spot colors! The varied personalities of the summoned demons contrasting with the calm protagonist! His very rare dorkiness that escapes only when he's not in battle! And everything and everybody else!

The fallen-smithy-god summon that splashes across the page as he arches backwards and unexpectedly (to him and us readers both) yells, "WHY AM I HERE?" And, and, Mokoi's non sequiturs: "I want to go to Istanbul."

MOARRRRR!!!!! The battles, the humor, the art, the plot lines are strong in this one. How many comma'ed phrases do I need to explain this to you?

-.5 with *great* reluctance because two or three panels suffered from lack of a proofreader to the point it affected the dialog flow. But I read it twice in a row anyway. The first time startled me when I caught up with the releases and there was no more. I was shocked as I came back to reality so suddenly. That rarely happens to me, and only with amazing manga that I gobble up like a feast.
