OK. First of all, a very vague spoiler about chapter 4:
it ends in a cliffhanger! I'm glad Maigo Scans left in the teaser for the next book. Wait a minnit, I guess since this is an action manga you might think it's an action spoiler. Only sort of, compared to the other sequences. But I wanna know more about her and now I gotta waaaaait!
Enough of my spoiled spoilerish ramblings. For a first tank, or even a fifth, well done. The tech designs are universe-internally consistent by and large, although the "katana" designs must include some very busy nanobots. Well, I suppose to be effective nanobots would have to be.
Anyway, good character history and plot telegraphing without making it obvious beforehand but giving you just a little of that "Ohhh!" feeling in retrospect. Plus, a couple of the early fights give you a really good feel for the level of the action without being boring. The
fight during the meeting
could have been especially boring given
! its length,
but the cut-aways and chapter ending made it one of my favorites.
There's a depth of potential hidden in the central character's background and the constraints he faces in society. I am glad to see the series made it to volume 3, and I hope the series lives up to its promise. I'll be eagerly waiting and making sure I get to keep the rating at:
