Interesting Neo-noir steampunk

I rate the steam punk anime very highly.
The anime brought to life the neo-noir steampunk atmosphere with good visuals and sounds.
The dub was good and I love the intro song. The characters are interesting and very likeable.
While the manga lacks the ability to bring the world to life with color and sounds it does expand the Steam Detectives universe.
Characters are given more depth in the manga. Ling Ling's relationships with her sister and her love life is touched on upon more.
Officer Anna becomes part of the main cast in the manga and is not just a 1 episode minor character like in the anime.
The manga has a more mature feel. e.g. Lang Lang and Le Bled are shown to have a sexual relationship in the manga (adds more weight as to why she is so devoted to him).

To sum up I think people who enjoyed the anime will enjoy the manga as it expands on the universe and takes the story line further but people who read the manga as a stand alone may not find enough there to keep them engaged.
