Manga almost never addresses the real struggles and sorrows of adults. That's perfectly understandable. It's an entertainment medium aimed at young people, and they don't want to hear about such things. To have such matters intrude into the manga world too often would also run the risk of undermining the optimism of youth.
But once in a while is OK, and this is an example of it. The art is so good that the pain and sorrow is somewhat muted. But they're still there, and the unusual realism of this manga consists in unflinchingly depicting them.

Really, really, really, great.
The story is great, and the artwork is excellent, very, very. How should I say it?
This manga gave an aura of beautiful sadness, just like Majo no Shinzou
Every component (story, artwork, character, the talking, everything) is so coherent and support each other very well.
Mangaka that can beautifully draw their character is many, but IMO, one that can portray the beauty of a nature in his/her manga is rare, very. And for me, this mangaka done it very, very, well. The nature scene he/she made is so so so beautiful, to the point made me feel so... jealous to the character inside that scene. It's just black and white (OK, grayscale), but you could get the 'feeling'. We could feel the aura of ghost village, or when it still has its villagers.
The story, IMO, is... hmm... not simple, yet not complicated. Sad, yet not depressing. Happy, with a hint of sadness...

A unique manga from the majority that I've read...
It's a short, yet touching story of a girl finding out about her family's past. Although somewhat bittersweet with the issue of Sumio, this story is a calming, happy story emphasizing the nostalgia the characters have of their home village and how they can never forget those days.
It's only two volumes, so I highly recommend anyone picking it up to enjoy a short moment of time.

within 2 volumes, the author was able to bring forth a wonderful, moving story which traverses 3 generations.
the cast is well stretched, as well as is put together layers upon layers, creating variety and depth for the story. with sketchy art style assisted to build up nostalgia.
all in all, a great read for those who seek serenity with a touch of sadness.
