From Psycho Pandas:
"I have something I don't want to lose. So much so that these terrible feelings have grown."
A pianist who attempted suicide 3 times, Juri, is taken to help her aunt at a prison where murderers who killed indiscriminately are sentenced to death. There, she meets a man named Yuu who took the lives of 3 people. A mother's antagonism--a brother's death. Together they embrace the violent rebellion in their hearts caused by the large, deep scars they carry. However, before long, they both embrace an earnest hope in their hearts. "I want to live."

The summary of this manga doesn't sound interesting, but in truth, the manga is beautiful. Sad, but beautiful. The art is amazing and the story is relatable and easy to follow. If you like emotional/deep manga, give it a try. It's a oneshot, so it doesn't take long to read. Recommend.

this is one of those reads that tend to bring upon the questioning of your life as well as life in general. afterward you begin to see life as well as people in a whole different perspective. probably the best thing i ever read. i recommend.

I knew from the get go that this story was gonna hurt, but I didn't expect it to hurt this much.
When I first learned of Yuu's crime, I thought "He deserves that death sentence." I didn't care if he's sorry or that he has a tragic backstory. A mother and a fucking child lost their lives because of him, and no amount of tears and "I'm sorry"s could bring them back. I refused to feel sorry for this man.
But what the author did was force me to look deeper, past the crime and the walls. And then this story hit me with this quote:
I kept thinking of it even after I'd finished the story. True, Yuu was a criminal no matter what. And most killers in real life are nowhere near as remorseful and kind as he was.
However, out of the roughly 26.000 people out there on death rows around the world, how many were wrongfully convicted? And how many have faced similar (if not worse) situations as Yuu?
I won't go into much detail about the meaning and the messages the author was trying to convey in this story, seeing as lots of people here have done it.
All I can say is that it's good enough to make me shed a few tears.

Loved it.
The art is gorgeous, made just for the story.
The story really touches you, and teaches you as well.

I think this is great. It's getting a lot of mixed reviews, but honestly, it's short enough that you may as well give it the benefit of the doubt and go for it before deciding yourself. Oh but it doesn't really match the seinen tag though, josei would make more sense, so don't go in expecting that because you may be disappointed.
I really like the art and the story was very interesting. I wasn't a huge fan of how the characters were initially portrayed, especially that aunt, but I really liked the MCs by the end. I was also really touched by the last scenes. It's worth a read.

It is a story about forgiveness, pain, and longing. I am sobbing. What touched me? I think it was hearing the girl's past that got to me first. It was the rekindling of hope and the inevitability of despair that was so heartwrenching. Does anyone have the right to take away another's life? Even the life of one who has caused great pain? The emptiness of ideological justice and the hypocritical ways we attempt to see such justice served?
I deeply empathize with all who yearn for life, be it a suppressed, fearful whisper or a passionate craze. So seeing hope birthed to two characters marooned in the depths of their personal tragic labyrinths had me completely invested. Like Romeo and Juliet's ominous foreshadowing, I knew from the beginning this was not going to end blissfully.
And it didn't. I cried a shit ton.
