Completely ridiculous

Dukylon is completely ridiculous--in a good way.

Now, I actually completely agree with the ratings: in terms of story, humor, and characters, Dukylon earns a solid 7.5. Why then did I rate it so high? Obviously because I loved the whole Kentarou/Takeshi pandering that Clamp did. Also, I appreciated that Clamp was able to write/draw something so completely stupid and ridiculous without remorse. I don't think this series was even trying to be funny half the time. It just wanted to be as crazy as possible!

In all seriousness, though, this is really one of those comedy manga that work only if the audience is willing to let themselves be drawn into the story, and to accept the characters' hijinks and shenanigans just as they are. If you start this story skeptical of the whole thing, you definitely won't find anything in here to change your skepticism. In short, this is really a crack manga for Clamp fans, and if you're not a fan of Clamp, Dukylon will not make you one.

If you are a Clamp fan, though, just sit back and enjoy the ride. This is Clamp silliness at its best, and there's no stopping the rollercoaster once you get on it!

Crack, Crack, and More Crack.

Really, I don't even know how this manga has the genre tags of "action" "mecha" and "sci fi". It's pure comedy, all the way through. I don't think there's one SINGLE serious moment in the entire thing. If I'd known it was pure crack, I definitely would've read it sooner. However, the synopsis and genre tags left me thinking it might be CLAMP's attempt at a sci fi / mecha piece... and I wasn't too excited about that.

On the contrary, this crack manga is hilarious. It pokes fun at the above genres... and itself. And... everything. It's own characters, it's own plot... There is nothing serious in this manga whatsoever.

And I LOLed at the sheep chapter. Seriously. Out loud laughter. Which is saying something.
