There is nothing redeeming about this. The anti military political rhetoric is about as subtle as an elephant in a china shop, and the way the message is told isnt tactful at all.

If Shintaro wanted to write a political anti-military manga AND still have gore, there were plenty of better methods to do it (just look at the Holocaust, Rape of Nanking, etc) yet the fact that he used sexualized female gore suggests that his primary concern was with getting off on these mutilated women, because it absolutely RUINS any message he was going for. Also, some of the girls aren't even teenagers yet Shintaro shows them grafted onto tanks with sticks stabbing into their privates...what the @#&ing hell.

There is such thing as a powerful message and this isn't it, it's something a 17 year old kid with middle school syndrome would think of as "edgy." It's basically just saying "f@$k the government" without any coherent argument, just riding off shock value. 1/10
