I read this because I like the short girl romance thing, but there is no romance at all in this manga. Not even a little bit. Then ending leaves unanswered questions. Relationships are left undefined. For the most part, it's just a boring read.

It's getting to where you can't trust the tags here anymore.

Not bad for shoujo

What I liked:
-The dark mysterious theme to it
-Art style
-Dynamics of the three main characters (they made me laugh)
-Humor
-Them dogs <3
-The 'gender bender'. The person actually looked convincing.
-Very little romance. So little that
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Choko ends up with no one, which is another thing I'm glad for because I seriously can't see her more than a younger sister. For most of the series, she needed so much help.

What I didn't like:
-The last chapter left me feeling empty. (I read the chinese scans)
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Everything wrapped up predictably nicely, just as I feared. Also, some questions were left unanswered like about their father. Overall, felt like they ran out of pages for a better ending.

-Choko. About 70% of the time I felt annoyed because she's basically that klutzy, slow heroine who gets involved in other people's business, trying to save them but ends up needing to be saved/helped most of the time.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
and it's in the last chapter she somehow becomes the one who saves everyone else

NOWNOWNOWNOW.

THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING IT HAS BEEN DROPPED RIGHT AT THAT CHAPTER.

WHYYYY

(It's really good, wasn't expecting what happened to happen smile Awesome characters, interesting and mysterious plot line, intense! Also slow but real romance)

Surprisingly loved it

Haven't been able to finish this because of the scanlations but I can only hope they'll be finished someday soon. The plot has yet to disappoint and I have faith the ending wont be a let down (but now I'm kind of worried from previous comments). Really, very sad it's only 4 volumes long. One thing's for sure, this story is pretty intense for a shoujo in general, especially one with a cute, short female lead. It's pretty dark, but at the same time it manages to have it's good share of humorous moments. Definitely would recommend this. I'm surprised this isn't more popular.

- Note that it's not really much of gender bender if that's what you're looking for. Romance is subtle, but nice.

Also, the art/aura is uncannily familiar to Code:Breaker. Given their eyes may be slightly different. But if anything, I kind of like it better (and plot-wise it's a bit more realistic and suspenseful).

Well...

This story certainly has its ups and downs. For sure, it's quite far from regular shoujo. The "gender bender" aspect hardly plays a part as well, for those who dislike the genre.
With what seemed to me to be an iffy start, the story certainly picks up a bit. While I haven't finished it yet, it's quite compelling and--as properly noted as a genre above--mysterious. It's dark, tragic, and suspenseful.
But here's my biggest problem with it:

The main female lead.

What is she doing in this story? She has little to no connection to the plot, and serves only to bring extra danger for the important characters as well as needless (and not very tasteful) comedic relief. She's almost as bad as Miaka from Fushigi Yuugi: short, annoying, and loves to eat (and somehow keeps from getting really fat).

If you can look over this major fault to this story, I suggest trying it. The underlying story does seem interesting.

love the story... kind of abrupt ending though

Every single chapter was pretty much action-packed. Great writing, beautiful art, and I esp. love the main character girl - she's really charming and spunky and strong! You'll see. And the 2 guys were both likable (took me a while to warm up to the second one, but yes I ended up liking him too). I thought this was a love triangle story, but actually the author didn't focus TOO much on it.

Speaking of, that's what makes the ending kind of frustrating. It's the only downside. It's kind of vague and based on interpretation... regarding the love triangle. Which makes it more realistic I guess. Still, I wish she could have added in at least a couple more pages. Some loose knots are not tied, like the thing with the dad and stuff...

I still would recommend it though. Love this author! If you've read Coecalanth this would not disappoint. In fact I think it's better.

I read the comments over there vvvv before reading this manga
And i think the comments will influence ur view about this series a LOT.. so i want to make my comment clear and NOT SO bias (maybe a little)

my review abou this is, its genre is mystery and yeah , every chapter will get you hooked from the first chapter. For me i like reading different shoujo plot just to stir up my interest and i think this is a good read for those who wants to change the USUAL SHOUJO plot with DARK AND MYSTERIOUS SHOUJO story. IF YOU DONT LIKE DARK OR INTENSE MANGA DONT READ THIS. It'll just make u feel creepy. AND AS I SAID this is a shoujo mamga with different plot and mood SO AS EXPECTED THE FEMALE LEAD IS DEPENDENT TO THE MALE LEAD ... dont read this if u dont like typical shoujo girls(but i think the lead female here is pretty strong in some way)
But if u can stomach/like/love those, ur good to go, go read this manga... Oh yeah, other than the dark mood(which is not much) the whole story and all is good (^_^)

This manga lacks of releases, but I gave it a try anyway. The story is twisted and the heroine is simply stupid. You have to continue reading it to understand the story (everything's confusing at the beginning)... it's interesting to suddenly see a woman in a cheongsam... who's not a woman at all, haha.

I've finished the series and i'm not disappoint. This series has the same manner as Coelacanth such as the suspense, the dark feeling (although there're some cute moments ^^) and the ending-- i mean it doesn't say we're gonna be happily ever after and so on. At first I got so irritates with Chiyoko but after some chapter, she's not so dumb after all. Anyway with Coelacanth and Mayonaka no Ariadne, I've become Shimotsuki-sensei's fan.

ps. love how she named her manga titles

So I rate it 8.5/10 (for I wish there would be more back stories of Nougami, Chiyo and Chiharu, although the way it is now is pretty concise)
