That wouldn't be so bad if there had been any real conclusion.

great start but dragged out too much

Noticed this manhwa because of its k-drama adaptation and I figured I'd like to try the original before the drama.

It was off to a great start, interesting situation, charismatic lead, exciting love triangle, all the usual. But halfway through, all the troubles which the protagonist encounters kept repeating themselves, and frankly it became immature and very difficult to read. I think I'm stuck around chapter 80 something, and hopefully one day I can go back and finish it, if only to see the end of the journey of characters which appealed to me so much at the beginning.

Maybe it was just because of it being split up, but...

Why did Yul's mother cheat on her husband AFTER she supposedly fell in love with his him? His confession caused her to genuinely fall for him. Even in the present, she seemed to still love him dearly and said she was heartbroken when he died. I mean, at that about we didn't know if Shin's father loved his wife yet, but we know Yul's mother did love her husband.

Too long and melodramatic

Might have been good but there is too much melodrama and it's too long for it's own good.
After a while you get tired of having the main chars acting like idiots and doing all the opposite of what they feel just to make the drama and misunderstandings go deeper, how many times does the future queen needs to get caught in a compromising situation with Yul? and Seja's actions might be justified in many occasions but he keeps being an a** over and over with no particular reason and (apparently) contrary to his cool and contained personality.
After 8 volumes with little progress and judging by the comments that there are at least 100 more chapters of similar content and a very bad ending, I don't think I'll ever be finishing this one.

Overdramatic

It was enjoyable for the most part, however, my gripes are rather major. The plot becomes too tedious and interactions are so melodramatic I could hardly keep reading. However, the ending wasn't all that bad in my OWN opinion. It left some loose ends but it kinda suited both of our main characters.

Enjoyable yet dragged on. Very funny at times yet their arguments and problems took them into a circle I would not call this my favorite but pretty good.

For posterity my favorite chapter would be 178

So much drama, but bad ending

At first, I thought I love this manhwa, mainly because of the art but boy am I disappointed when I read the ending. There is too much of over-the-board drama with the couple being divorced, yet still longing for each other, secret meetings, more evil plots from Yul and his freaking mum and all this crap...leads to an ending where

The prince can't abandon his duties and the princess who didn't like the life of royalty. And to wait for each other again?! They will be old before they know it.

Basically all those drama for nothing. It's kinda ridiculous no matter how you see it.Like as if the author just decided to burn the story, throw away a good ending and replaced it with something a cliffhanger.

good idea, bad execution...

Well, there's a lot of manhwa like this, actually...
When it has a very good and interesting base, the storytelling make my heart tired of all those round love-hate-love-hate-love and unnecesarry filler.
It started out very well, and the main idea was good after all, but all those filler make me keep skipping chapter after chapter, asking, "where's the main plot?" while waiting for development of the main character. It's good, but tiring and frustating. If the reader is not a patient type, they'll surely will leave this series.

the series starts out quite well, and I laughed a lot during the first 2/3 of the series.... but then, the love triangles and conspiracies just got too suffocating... And I couldn't stand how the couple is just constantly at each others' throats, wanting break ups and what not....

also, as man pointed out, the ending sucks. In fact, I suggest that you just skip the last couple chapters, and imagine your own ending instead.

Catchy!

I hardly say this, but this Manhwa was really catchy and made me read it in almost one go. It is been a while since that happened, especially when it comes to settings with a historical feel and adjusted circumstances, like the royal palace still being filled with life. But - It was a surprise to see, how this one got me alsmost right away, because of the interesting characters and the humor. Honestly, sometimes I was laughing like crazy. Kkk.

As for the drawing style, it's matching. At the right points, for example the palace backgrounds or the historical elements (from clothing to vases), you can find many details, while there are also times with clear lines, when the focus lies on the characters and the emotions on their face. The SD formats are funny and not overwhelmingly often used, so the jokes usually go well with and without them. All in all, IMO the artwork was pretty well done and needs praise.

As for the storyline - There are moments praiseworthy and others that are not, but that's a given, since no storyline is able to match everyones tastes. Right? In my eyes the story was interesting and made me curious about the next steps, which is certainly a good job. Still - By times I was annoyed by the antagonists, the dragging dialogues repeating things all over again and the characters being unable to move forward, BUT that's life. It wasn't like those things made me stop reading and somehow they just fit the way the story is told, so the interesting and refreshing twists beat them.

The characters have been created well, too. You get a real hand full of different types, which makes it easy to find your personal favourite and see them overcoming their own troubles. They are distinctive and the behaviour is in most cases understandble, even though this can get on your nerves somtimes. It can make their actions predictable or simply a bit stupid, since there might be an easier way in sight to clear misunderstandings or resolve the issues they have. But, again that's an aspect making them seem realistic - and I liked that.

The ending was fine with me. To be honest ...
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The scene, when they are finally together again and he asks her to come in, while she asks him to come out ... Made me almost get teary eyes. It was a nice conclusion for both, although some may nag about them not being together right away. However, they matured along the storyline and that's the point for me, which was shown through this again.

In conclusion - The drama adaption bored me after the first episode and so I didn't expect anything, when I was giving this Manhwa a try. In the end, I'm happy about trying it, because it was way better than I would have imagined and so funny, yet touching at some points. Therefore, you should give it a chance, too~ ^^
