Description
From Tokyopop:
After Mahiru has a haunting recurring dream, she meets the Lunar Race, which consists of the vampire Nozomu, the werewolf Akira, the fox Misoka, and the tengu Mitsuru. They need her help to recover the 'Drops of the Moon,' the recently-pilfered source of their power.

As the battles to recover the Drops rage on, Mahiru tries to open up the dark, human-hating tengu Mitsuru, and form a bridge between humans and the Lunar Race.

I wasn't having high expectations and I was surprised. It was pretty good. Some people say that it didn't have a good ending. I thought it was a good wrap up. The first book was kinda confusing but it got better. Also personally the art cleaned up after a while.

This is one of those series that make you wonder why on earth you had put off reading it for so long, because once you begin reading, you simply cannot stop. It was a little confusing and slow at the beginning, but once the story really kicked off, I was completely hooked. The art is a bit peculiar and was part of the reason why I had picked up at the bookstore so many times only to put it down again, but it's just a matter of adjusting. It's too good a read to put aside for that reason.

The Cliffsnotes version of the story - Mahiru has a recurring dream where she hears a haunting song about the doomed love story between a princess and a demon, and when she meets a few members of the Lunar Race, finds out she's integral to their desperate bid to retrieve the "Tears of the Moon," which will restore their powers and save their kind. I can't completely shake off the feeling that there have been similar stories, but it's interesting all the same. Watching Mahiru work with Mitsuru (a tengu), Nozumu (a vampire), Misoka (a fox demon) and Akira (a werewolf) to find those precious gems and fight off their arch-rivals makes for a great blend of action, adventure and romance.

My only complaint is that there's actually too much plot for a measly 6 (short) volumes. There was a lot of necessary build-up, backstory and time covering the early stages of their journey, but the most exciting parts from about the 4th volume onwards felt like a mad dash towards the finish line. It could've used at least 2-3 more volumes to settle the events at the moon palace, Shirogane's change of manner and Mitsuru and Mahiru's developing romance. That said, I loved what we were given of the latter; even though Mitsuru annoyed me at the beginning, it was adorable how different he was once he had resigned himself to his feelings.

Despite the issues with the pacing and the not-the-best art, the combination of a great story with an interesting cast of characters (as well as a resolution that should please all fans of happy endings) makes Crescent Moon a must-read.

I really loved this story. It was cute, had likable characters, an interesting story line/concept, and I (personally) liked the art. It has some romance, action, and fantasy.
I really loved it and you might too. It's one of my favorite series of all time so I deeply reccoment it. ^_^

Good, but not Great

Personally, I love the art. It's quite stylized, and certainly unique.
As for the story, I feel like the author took too much time at the beginning, and not enough time at the end to explain things. It might not necessarily have been their fault (they might've had to end by 6 volumes) but I like the flow of the plot in the beginning, slower and taking the time to show us things (ie, scenes where we're shown the girl's ability to see things underwater). Maybe they weren't all that important, but I still liked that it wasn't rushed. It suited the story.
The romantic relationship between the protagonists certainly felt rushed to me, which I was quite disappointed by. I also wanted to know more about the backstory of the demon and the woman.
It was a good read, but nothing too memorable.

Cresscent moon is one of those manga that you just keep on reading til the end. IT's funny and sweet and charming, but it's also very unexpected. THe art is great and the story is terrific. Crescent Moon is a good read for anyone.

The last two volumes were so rushed...the love between the dude who hates humans and the girl was rushed faster than you can finish saying I love you. Overall the story was nice, I think making an anime rather than a manga would have been better for this...especiall since theres some singing involved...id give this a 6/10 just b/c the beginning was okay.

1: do not give up after the first volume the story gets even better as it goes along. Quite exciting and entertaining
2. the art is well not quite pleasing at first but you will get used to it....mind you sometimes the characters look like Frankenstein and those big eyes make them look like weird cats....hehe.
3. It has such a lovely and touching love story that it will make you get all girlie without feeling nauseous.
