HAH!? I read it because woah at the ratings and highly praise at that.

My god, what so good about this one shot? So the man used twitter and whatnot? So?
The storyline was not just cliche (savior, slave) but flat.
I'd give it a pass since it is a one shot, limited to 50 pages.

It's not reality, but in reality, those guys would have killed the man already.

And as someone mentioned, it's just a cheap Apple advertisement depicted in a manga.

the male lead says "don't under estimate the Japanese". He's saying that Japanese were "techie"---that's given, yet everyone nowadays are into gadgets now.
It would be nice if the mangaka uses Sony Experia or Motorola for his smart phone instead of apple to add the "Japanesque" (lol...just saying though)

the art is remarkably gorgeous. loved that.

it felt like a giant apple commercial, though. i felt like the social media/technology bits werent introduced very smoothly and just felt like blatant product placement. ruined my enjoyment of the story. and although twitter certainly helped to move a political revolution in real life, i don't think it quite worked out like this (plus a country could totes just cover up and claim other stuff, like other countries in real life as well). i feel like it aimed for eden of the east-esque drama, but fell a little short.

cute oneshot, though! i'll be checking out this mangaka's other things biggrin

Well this is really the first time I'd seen that a modern device could change your destiny, lol. Like some others, I read this one-shot after IPAASHA because I was surprised by author's art, also by the story. So, in the end, what can I say, this is a good one-shot

Awesome. The art is fantastic. I actually read Ipaasha first before I read any of Ichinose's other works.

And the art is NOT like Clamps. It's much better! This is evident in Ipaasha.

Of Ichinose's works, the best art and plotlines are in Ipaasha and Suits no Kuni. (I didn't like Mishounen Produce so much. The art in that one's not as good)

I love this author's works and i specially love this one! it's so close to reality. this could actually happen in real life and though the romance and story were light, it was interesting and good.

a light and fluffy idealistic love story. ambiguously middle-eastern drug lord vs. humble japanese salaryman. the political slant, whether intentionally ethnocentric or not, detracted from an already insubstantial story. the use of existing technology in the plot was cute. a bit refreshing to see something familiar rather than the ersatz version or some "sufficiently advanced" handwaving mechanism, but it didn't really serve to make the story any less contrived. much of the socio-economic context of the story that might add substance is left unexplained and unbelievable in favor of a barebones

"humble knight rescues a princess"
gambit, coupled with

a japanese version of the mighty whitey formula and "love/hard work/wits/ipad conquers all"
themes. art style is very reminiscent of CLAMP. everyone is long and lean with big, jewel-encrusted eyes, sharp chins, and flowing, silky hair...except the guys in turbans, who are given generic "old-and/or-unattractive-person-face," because, common to shoujo manga, the artist doesn't really know how (or care) to make characters who are not young and cute visually interesting, i guess.

There was amazing art as expected from this author. I was seriously laughing though throughout the oneshot. One of the reasons included that although the people of the of the village were extremely deprived from technology, they would still like to make a impact in Japan market. Also even without technology they still happen to have a well to-do drug/prostitution system worked out. I really did enjoy this oneshot (but probably not due to the reasons the author had it intended for)!

The story where modern technology meets traditional civilization, this oneshot really hits close to home. The "modern technology" here is ipads, ipods, and twitter! i just can't get over it.

I also looove Inchinose-sensei's style of work, and this did not disappoint. In fact, it was quite refreshing compared to her other works.

Anyway, as for the guy, he's simply one of the best examples of what a man should be nowadays. nuff said.

totally recommend this ^^
