Main story was hella good! I liked the premise of the story. Story two was hideous, I must say. He loved his bestfriend but raped him instead. I don't like how Mei was miserable without the Shota. On a normal circumstance, after a person were raped, whoever the rapist would be, the pride of the person who was raped wouldn't allow himself to be taken care of the rapist. Though Mei was slow on the uptake, he should've tried his best in taking care for himself.
2nd oneshot was a little bit better than the 1st one. At least the Toshikazu tried to put an effort to adjust for Kunimi. Tho his actions were kinda weird. It kinda feels like he wanted to stray Kunimi so that Kunimi will realize that he's (Toshikazu) right all this time (even tho extreme possessiveness is injudicious). If he really wanted Kunimi to be comfortable, he wouldn't have avoided him completely. Simple words like "Take care. Be back soon" or saying he loves him constantly like always wouldn't make Kunimi be insecure.

So although the main story was hella good, the oneshots sucked. I wish that I could give separate ratings for each story.

Surprisingly, I actually really liked this manga. I had some doubts at first, but I was definitely proven wrong.
The main couple (chapters 1, 2 and extra) were very sweet. The so-called plot twist really wasn't a twist at all, I think it's pretty clear what's going to happen just from reading the description. But having said that, I really liked it. The 2nd chapter in particular was good, as we got to see things from Kunimi's POV. The extra was funny too, though I would've liked it to be a bit longer.
The two oneshots that follow were both decent. Again, utterly predictable, but not bad. Though quite forgettable really.
So I'm giving this an 8.5/10 as I was pleasantly surprised by the main story.

As for "Rival ni Ki wo Tsukero" itself, the plot was decently developed...nothing special, though.
Although I did like the lack of sex for a change (just a couple of scenes) and how they're feelings were an important matter.
Also, I liked that the characters weren't seme and uke exactly. Only on bed (which is better, 'cause I hate inversions), but they were about the same height and equals as men.

As for the first one-shot...I love Kayoko, hahaha! I'd totally be her!
The story is nothing new. Cute only. And I HATED that it endend before they really got together, and I we don't get to see the first sex scene either!

The second one...I liked it. More than everybody said, actually. I mean, it's pure cliché, but I like when the subject is posession, for some reason.

In general, artwork is okay (not bad, not beautiful).
The characters aren't much remarkable.

Okay for killing time...

The last two one shots, like everyone's been saying, are nothing to boast about. The main story that covers chapter one and chapter two are rather cute. Nothing special really, a sort of usual type of yaoi but still cute.

I wish the whole volume had just been 'Beware of the Rival', mainly because I couldn't get enough. The side stories were ok, but the first story I just adored. Love triangles can get tiring sometimes, but this really had a surprising twist, and the developing love was just too cute. This is just a really cute read where everyone ends up happy! ^_^ I give it a ten, just because I'm ignoring the sides and focusing on the main story.

the first and longest story, Beware of the Rival is great. It's NOT an angsty love triangle like it sounds, The story is actually sweet and lighthearted. A great read if you're in the mood for a fun, "feel good" story.

The other 2 oneshots are just ok- the stories are not that interesting.

about the ONLY yaoi manga I've read where the two lovers are on equally matched. it's pretty funny but a bit too short.
