Description
As the name implies, "Aho" Girl, or Dumb Girl, is as stupid as you can get. Which is why her crush and childhood friend, Akuru Akutsu (or "Akkun" as everyone calls him), isn't the only one unwilling to put up with her fallacies. Along the way, they are joined by many other fellow idiots as they probe deeper into the true meaning of idiocy, and the true relationship between Yoshiko and Akkun.

Somehow depressing when viewed objectively

Depending on how involved you are empathising with the characters, it can get somewhat uncomfortable at times.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The male MC is essentially surrounded by idiots and weirdos, while one of the recurring gags is that he is constantly harassed in various context as he tries to study. While it may seem to be funny at first, it makes one wonder how unfortunate his social life is and how hopeless those around him will be in the future.

Some of the characters are so idiotic that it invokes completely negative feelings towards them that it stops being funny (also too far-fetched that it makes the whole manga feel surreal). The fact that characters are making a fool of themselves at inappropriate times and without proper context at other times meant that a lot of the jokes come across relatively flat and grim. In essence, if you find idiots in mental aslyums funny then you might be able to enjoy this work to the fullest.

Some jokes are recycled over and over, running gags done to the dust as any effort in innovation seems to dry up quickly as the author fumbles around the 4th volume (at time of writing).

Essentially a disappointment when compared to the mangaka's other works (Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to, Doujin Work - both which received animated adaptations which were relatively well received).

Used to be stupidly funny... now it's just stupid

If you were put off by the previous works of the author for having just perverted jokes then I can assure you this one is more on the actual funny side and has extremely little perversion.

Edit:
After revisiting the manga 3 years and many chapters later, have to agree with the above review. Some of the characters are too ott stupid or dumb that the humour falls flat. The male lead is the only sympathetic character in the entire series.

Incredibly funny manga, a girl that's equivalent to a monkey and loves bannanas , a guy who has no choice but to "take care" of her and plenty of other side characters to keep you rofling, definitely recommend if you like comedies

Just read first chapter and all that I can say is it's a little bit funny, enough funny to make me laugh. Hiroyuki's art is still here, not even a small change. Finally, this is a comedy + 4koma, so good art and funny could make a good seri.
