This is really above mainstream BL in terms of character development.
This deals with love and career balance in a lovely and rational way.
While slow, the story is never boring and the art is gorgeous (I want those clothes!)
i love this author's works for her ability to make characters who make you FEEL things and make your heart ache, and this work is no exception. it's a cute story about two boys who love each other but are also dumb with their feelings. some perks include:
- great side characters! no cliches where they're trying to tear the two apart, no forced love triangles. they're lovable and root for the main couple.
- work-life balance! sure, yaoi romances can be dramatic and overwrought, but this work tries to be realistic about that fact that love can't be all that sustains, you also need to go to work. this is especially true for these two guys, whose passions for their careers will sometimes clash with each other, and they need to (eventually) talk it out.
TBH, I thought that this will be a run-of-the-mill yaoi manga that will remind me of the 00's, because that's Tenzen Momoko I remember (but I haven't read her works in so long that I could be really wrong on this). But here I found:
- understandable characters
- relatable problems and feelings
- character development - and growth!
- some important life lessons - not new for me, but important none the less (and rarely seen in romance fiction of any kind)
I do think that the problem was solved too quickly, that in real life it would have taken much longer for the person to understand what's going on, and maybe it would have taken some counseling too. Because it's really hard to differentiate your passions, to understand what you REALLY want, what you can't live without, who you really are. But that this topic was brought up at all? Thumbs up.

It's not necessarily the most touching or emotional piece of romance fiction out there and the drama felt a bit forced (or at least its execution was), but this manga still has its merits as a chill yet not boring story surrounding working adults that are relatively relatable and charming enough to make the audience like them and enjoy reading about them. Tenzen Momoko's got a pleasant, amiable style so stories with a vibrant and positive vibe like this one naturally shine under her pen without being too overdone. Also I love the fashion - she really nailed the theme in this one.
