I know we have our own opinions and thoughts on these but, those who think the main guy(Shin) Is a complete jerk or bad guy and how ChaeGyung is a " Fan girl"( I personaly DO NOT get how people think that) or useless, shallow, you don't get it either.
Think about it. Shin basically had to give up his whole childhood to become Crown Prince. He had to push away fun, feelings, and dreams. Because of that, he does seem like a cold-hearted person but isn't. Inside he's a very sweet, warm loving, and caring guy.
As for ChaeGyung shes creative and has a very outgoing personality. When she marries Shin, She does get a bit depressed and sick because of palace life, not being able to be an "average girl" and the fact that she begins to like Shin but he shows no affection to her what so ever in the beginning.
OH! And yes! ChaeGyung does cry ALOT but I mean, she kinda has a reason too. I mean if you were a simple commoner at first and were free to do whatever you like and then you had to marry some Prince who you saw was a stuck up, cold hearted jerk who gave you no affection even friend-wise, and you had to obey all palace rules and you could barely see your family or have fun, then YES! You would most likely cry a lot too! XP
~~but I mean, I'm addicted to this manhwa! I love it soo much! <3 c: I'm glad I started reading it! ^ ____ ^ = ~~

Why is the manga writer dragging this story out?....Just end it already before the whole thing is ruined. Goong is one of those great romance stories that starts off great and then it becomes to popular... When I say to popular I mean to the point where it makes so much money that the manga artist refuses to end it properly.

Goong at the most should have been a 16 book series. Now it's turned into a never ending series that's becoming weak. I shudder at how this manga series will end in the future.

''A modern fairy tale with a political twist''
Okay, I started reading 'Goong' out of boredom. A friend of mine told me that he was reading it so I thought I should give it a go as I couldn't find any other manga to read. I read the plot in Wikipedia and the story seemed to be pretty nice, rather unique- different from other Korean shoujos I have read till date. The art in the beginning is not up to the mark but it becomes better and better as the series progresses. The story goes good initially. I like how the author manages to bring up sudden comedy during some serious issue or when you least expected any comedy there. This manhwa has also been very informative for me! I came to know about the Korean royalty and culture. But, sometimes it turns to be a drag like the others said. The author is stretching the story which is irritating me. I want this manhwa to end now- with a good ending, of course. Keeping the 'dragging' issue aside, I will say its a good read for all Shoujo manga/manhwa lovers.

my opinion about this manhwa, first time read it "oh my god it's so funnny...!!" few volume after that "oh my god it's getting hoter and hotter!!! kyaa! kyaa!" few volume after that.. "what happen next!! what happen next come on!!!" after that "sad... so sad.. i cannot accept it" and then "oh my god!!! kyaa! kyaaa! (again -___-)" and after that "sad.. so sad (AGAIN)" then i realize.... it should stop... i can't bear it anymore... and all that waiting for month.... oh my god.. even the book on my country is so slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww -__- so i decide i'll read it again after this manhwa end..

The storyline at first showed great promise. However, once the author starts to delve into politics, everything goes downhill from there. The art work is decent- nothing extraordinary. Also, the comical aspects of the story is mediocre and a bit obnoxious. Do yourself a favor, and just read the first 10 volumes or so, and come up with your own ending.

I loved reading this manhwa.. it was so interesting at the beginning until volume 10? The latest releases are a bit dragging and boring. But overall, it's a really good manhwa, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I totally love this manga. It's been like a total roller coaster, One minute I'm pissed off at the characters and the next I will be laughing or sad.

When I fist saw how many chapter it was going on for I was a little put off because usually I hate really long stories because sometime they just drag on for so long, But this one is really good I haven't been able to stop reading it. It has just grabbed my attention and interest and I can hardly wait for the rest of the chapters.

There's surprisingly a lot of drama in this manhwa(maybe not surprising..) but most of the drama is quite original ._. With few cliches.

Character personalties are realisitic(ish) and very well thought out.
The lips.....................................are too puckered.............

This manhwa is a must read and it should be considered a 'classic' along with all those other shoujo ones. (Hana Kimi, Hana Yori Dango, Fruits Basket etc...)

When i first saw this manga, i had my doubts because the summary didn't sound very appealing and the characters were drawn in a different style than the one i am used to.

However, when i started reading this manga, i found that it was very hard to stop reading. Each chapter is not read without anticipation. It is a laugh out loud shoujo, that isn't like other typical plots. It's so .. unpredictable .

I hardly say this, but this Manhwa was really catchy and made me read it in almost one go. It is been a while since that happened, especially when it comes to settings with a historical feel and adjusted circumstances, like the royal palace still being filled with life. But - It was a surprise to see, how this one got me alsmost right away, because of the interesting characters and the humor. Honestly, sometimes I was laughing like crazy. Kkk.

As for the drawing style, it's matching. At the right points, for example the palace backgrounds or the historical elements (from clothing to vases), you can find many details, while there are also times with clear lines, when the focus lies on the characters and the emotions on their face. The SD formats are funny and not overwhelmingly often used, so the jokes usually go well with and without them. All in all, IMO the artwork was pretty well done and needs praise.

As for the storyline - There are moments praiseworthy and others that are not, but that's a given, since no storyline is able to match everyones tastes. Right? In my eyes the story was interesting and made me curious about the next steps, which is certainly a good job. Still - By times I was annoyed by the antagonists, the dragging dialogues repeating things all over again and the characters being unable to move forward, BUT that's life. It wasn't like those things made me stop reading and somehow they just fit the way the story is told, so the interesting and refreshing twists beat them.

The characters have been created well, too. You get a real hand full of different types, which makes it easy to find your personal favourite and see them overcoming their own troubles. They are distinctive and the behaviour is in most cases understandble, even though this can get on your nerves somtimes. It can make their actions predictable or simply a bit stupid, since there might be an easier way in sight to clear misunderstandings or resolve the issues they have. But, again that's an aspect making them seem realistic - and I liked that.

The ending was fine with me. To be honest ...
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The scene, when they are finally together again and he asks her to come in, while she asks him to come out ... Made me almost get teary eyes. It was a nice conclusion for both, although some may nag about them not being together right away. However, they matured along the storyline and that's the point for me, which was shown through this again.

In conclusion - The drama adaption bored me after the first episode and so I didn't expect anything, when I was giving this Manhwa a try. In the end, I'm happy about trying it, because it was way better than I would have imagined and so funny, yet touching at some points. Therefore, you should give it a chance, too~ ^^
