From Endless Abyss:

This is the story of a very smart student called Hirama Ren who is used to always getting the top results in his school, and is the chairman of the student's council. One day, he walks past a group of bullies and asks them to leave--and because of that, they decide to teach him a lesson. They decide to beat up a couple of guys and they reported it to the teachers, blaming him.

Hirama becomes enraged by it and so he decides to attain some power that could allow him to change the world to a world that he wanted; one without such pathetic people.

Coincidentally, his vice-chairperson called him and asked if he was fine with her inviting a hypnotist for some event at school to hype up the school population. Thinking that the ability of hypnotism is just what he was looking for, he agrees to it. During the "trial" test of the hypnotist's ability, he set up some plan and later on used it to test if hypnosis was able to hypnotise people who were avoiding it. With his new found knowledge, how will Hirama use this new power to reshape the world?

Emm... Shounen genre is a bit too straight forward for this plot, I think. It's not bad, but somehow the pace kills all the mystery and some of the dialogs are awkward.
It's too dark for it to be fun(protagonist is a sociopath), and too childish to take it seriously(hypnotism is a suggestion, not a remote control).
well, maybe I expected a bit more.

We've all seen Death Note. But even if we haven't what makes this series and anything about it, in particular the protagonist, stand out? I can tell anybody "look, here's the character. This is what he does and this is who he is" but that doesn't mean it's believable. It leaves nothing to the reader and throws pace right out the window making you go wtf is happening here, is this crucial to the plot, should I pay attention? In some stories that sort of thing is supplemental, like maybe at the end of the chapter or even just as a random intermission, but here, in the universe of Lost+Brain, that's what's happening the whole time. Giving no time to dissect the main character, his background, and even any underlying morals or emotional pulls.

From the 2 chapters I've read I'm going to give it a 6. Maybe it gets better later on, I DON'T KNOW. But for now I give this a 6.

I really liked this manga. Now a lot of people say this series is very similar to death note, but the only thing similar to death note is the main character! There's nothing bad about this series! If you can't get over the fact that the main character is similar to light, then you might as well stop reading manga! Because how many characters are similar to each other in manga!?

Flat out boring. Nothing grabs my attention. The subject of hypnotism itself is already boring enough. The story doesn't seem to show any development at all. Dropped it after chapter 3.

I really tried to like this series, but gave up after 21 chapters.... As I'm sure everyone else has stated it feels just like Death Note of course.... The problem is that it is just not interesting in my opinion.... Most of the characters have decent development, but sometimes something brutally obvious stands out.... My biggest problem is with the supposed master hypnotist that is upstaged left and right and overlooks things right in his face.... I don't know, maybe it'll get better, but I cant hold out for another 20 chapters just to find out.... Anyone interested in something along these lines should check out Death Note and Code Geass first since they're much better....

I like this better than Death Note. No surreal death gods and a magic book ~
The art is good, the plot around hypnotism is interesting as well, the characters are interesting enough to hope something happens.
There arent many mangas like Death Note so be happy that theres another one as good.

obviously a copy of death note. same character set ups, same ideas, same everything! I mean, the main character just looks like bad Light fanart. This shown next to Death Note is worse than Blazer Drive next to Naruto. Its just a bad copy with the same ideas but worse art.

other than the blatant unoriginality, the begining was slightly confusing, and it had me skimming. I didnt like the main character very much either. For a genius, he didnt seem to smart. It's probably bad to have a flawed protagonist that people dont like, but that's just my opinion.

im in no way a death note fangirl (honestly i stopped halfway through. ill finish it eventually) but the characters and situtations are way too simmilar. the main character is just an extreme unrealistic version of light: super genius, make world better through force/frowned upon means(you have to admit, they both want to "cleanse the world of its trash"), same hair, etc, etc- but with an unrealistically emphasized and already-developed 'attitude'(however you would describe it, his evil justice-ness!). i guess this protagonist doesnt go for the word "justice" but he does strive to make the world "better" because he sees it as an awful thing right now.

once that long hair hypnotists guy came in on the side of the police, he is easily recognizeable as the L figure, complete with an odd fashion style (not the same as L's, but equally odd). This is also very apparent in their quiet mini rivalry durring the first hypnotism demonstration performed by the hypnotist guy.

two unconventional protagonists on opposite sides of the law but both on the side of "good" (in their minds) in a battle of wits with the main protagonist having unnatural powers. other than it being much much more fast paced, this is screaming death note.

the only points i think it deserves it the thought needed to be put into the complications of "realistic" hypnotism.

Against Comel

Spoiler (highlight to view)
I disagree with Comel. I think it's a cool idea, as hypnosis is a real thing. It helps people connect with the series. Also, to those people who say it's an immitation of Death note, I agree. BUT, I think that it's a good thing. Death note was too short, (By that I mean L died to fast) so the next best thing to reading more, is reading an immatation.

Yes it was obviously inspired by Death Note and Code Geass, both series I loved, but it is hardly a 'cheap imitation'. That's just an immature comment from Death Note and Code Geass fanboys (or fangirls). No media should be judged *because of* the media that preceded it. The story's different, obviously.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
The main character's ultimate goal is different - he wants to eliminate the weakness in men's hearts, not merely suppress the 'evil' of society, he wants to change mankind from the ground up; the methods are different - hypnosis, he uses hypnotic suggestion not only to achieve objectives as in Geass, but to change the people themselves;
and the exploration of the human mentality is deeper. I believe that it's a manga that stands tall on its own.

Good for a quick read, i'm only halfway through but from what Ive seen so far, he skips the improve the world seen at the beginning of DN and CG, hopefully he dies at the end. If he doesnt I will find a paper copy of this and burn it page by copycat page.
