It's the year 2020 AD, and Tokyo II is a city infested with crime. Women can no longer go out in the streets alone without being victimized. Not wanting their daughter to suffer the same fate, Tsukasa Kozuki's cop parents raise her as a boy. When they are suddenly killed by one of the yakuza's in-fights, Tsukasa is left orphaned on the streets along with her three brothers.

With no other options, she goes to the only person she can think of for help: pokerface Ryuji Shirogami, her classmate of 8 years and also the head leader of the powerful yakuza group, Kuryugumi. Ryuji, whose father was also a victim of the same yakuza fight, agrees to take her on as his personal bodyguard. As they set out to find their enemy, Ryuji slaps an increasing amount of debt onto Tsukasa, using all manner of ploys to keep the reluctant Tsukasa by his side.

This is one of my all time favorite manga. After reading it for the third time it still has not lost its charm. It's rare to find such strong characters (both figuratively and literally) and plot in shoujo manga. I would have given TCP a 10/10 for its plot, action, comedy, characters, and subtle (perhaps slow would be more accurate) romance. However, since having an artist friend who is super-picky about proportions and such, I'm afraid I have to give it an 9/10 for some of the ridiculously small heads, super long legs, etc. I suppose that they're 14 is also a difficult point but manga logic, right?
I must also say, although Tsukasa was my favorite character, I believe now my favorite is Munakata despite his brief appearance.

The art is something of an acquired taste(it improves quite quickly after the first few chapters, but some may still not find it to their taste). The first few chapters in general are somewhat amateur-ish in many ways, but it really picks up quickly and is just an outstanding manga full of amazing plot and character development, and a lot of humor. It's fun, fairly mature, but playful. It's surprisingly dark at times, but it definitely won't make you feel down for long. If you have triggers involving drugs or rape, I'd advise against this as a read though.
It's a good story, with some sci-fi elements to it and the usual manga-style disregard for things like the laws of physics. I've reread it quite a few times, and it never stops being fun.

This has got to be the funniest manga I have ever read in my entire life. The deformed facial expressions and the hilarious dynamic between the male and female protagonists are super entertaining. Amidst all the comedy and laughter lies a dark and complex plot, an ancient legend of sort, romance (love triangles/rectangles? haha), and awesome action scenes. The main character isn't your normal damsel in distress. In fact, she's a super bad ass personal bodyguard (not to mention bad tempered) of a Yakuza leader and can slash down any enemy with her metal chain whip...though that's not to say there aren't any knight in shining armor scenes.

I highly recommend this manga. It's a pity it wasn't made into an anime.

At first I just thought that it's a bit good, since it didn't have a overall goal other than the debt that I kept forgetting about. At first it was just about betray, drugs, fights then it all tied together and ended some of the other love problems. It had it ups and downs, and the funniest part is him sneaking in her room, best part the whole series

This manga was definitely one of my favorites. I love the love development between Ryuji and Tsukasa. The story line itself felt a little long (could have cut a lot of parts out) and the ending felt unfinished (a few missing details about what happened in the past) and not a very complete love story.

The reason this is one of my favorite is because of all the hardship and misunderstandings the main pair had to go through just to get their feeling across (seriously 19 volumes and near the end they finally has a chance at being together). It has its serious moments and its hilarious moment. Alos the art gets better (chapter 1 is really bad but it gets better).

Yoshiki Nakamura really knows how to balance, action, drama & comedy in a manga. Yeah there are lot of titles out there who have the same themes but they just felt force to me unlike TCP. I laugh with Tsukasa's antics, I cried when one of the main characters had to die, enjoyed the last fight scenes morever I feel the romance between the main leads. I really recommend this manga. It's very well paced. Actually I want to read more but I guessed all good things must come to an end so I just re read the series whenever I'm bored reading cliche mangas.

i just finished it, and i just am too frustrated. its too damn LONG, the story often returns to previous chapters..i really got bored, even at the begining..but i am a patient person and i did read it to the end- YES, IT HAS AN END!..and my final conclusion its that is too much of everything..i just couldn't keep up with the characters, the story, every chapter has a new yakuza problem-drug murder, blah blah-- the charachters are not that developed, the main male character is always the same..meaning it has literally three drawings of him that always appear. and the most frustrating part is that they really can't be all 14 :S. for goodnes sake, make them at least 15 or just doesnt match up with the story, and later with art..I really have too many negative comments about this manga, but dont want to waste anymore time on it! biggrin

AMAZING story line: You cry, laugh, and get freaking pissed with the characters, and
Spoiler (mouse over to view)

HOWEVER, the translating and scanning qualities make it very difficult for readers who are less dedicated (read: obsessed) to the story than I am. I have the highest respect for scanlation groups; their unpaid effort allows for us to enjoy a wide variety of manga such as this, which has not been licensed.

But some of the pages on this are just illegible. If there are any scanlation groups reading this, I strongly suggest giving this a go. It is a fantastic manga and deserves a quality translation

I cannot count how many times I've reread this manga, but I wouldn't put it a 10 score because there are so many things that don't make sense even if you forget about gravity and other real world laws.
