Mizuki Konno is your typical high school junior at Yanno Prefectural High School. Like many teens her age she is studying hard for college and when she has some down time she likes to fuss over fashion and make-up. While she may not be one of the class elites, Mizuki is fortunate to be on the right side of her class's idols. But that might not settle well with those who are in a similar academic status but not so lucky with their social lives.

Mizuki really isn't a bad person. However she understands that she is one of the haves. And even if she only has so a strand to hold on to, that's much more than the introverts or the socially inept.

On the day of the field trip, Mizuki's position with the cool kids cannot be better. But now a good portion of her class are now firmly against her. While this "lower" clique may not be united, their hatred is much stronger than their differences. Unfortunately tragedy strikes in the form of a traffic accident. And now the class is split into two new groups...the living and the dead!

Almost the entire class has been wiped out and the five remaining girls are injured and lost in the wilderness. They also hate each other, and in a mix of Lord of the Flies with Heathers these girls begin to assert their wills against each other to try to survive while enacting a new class structure where looks and style is no longer the definition of influence.

I love this series but I didn't keep up with what the scanlators were doing until there any way for me to read the chapters that have been released so far? Because from what I can understand you can only get the newest chapter on their website after doing the 50 forum posts....

The first half of the first chapter (v1c1a) is a real pearl. Smart and cynical. It would have been a perfect one-shot. I strongly recommend to read at least this.

After this begins a more classical survival manga. Up to now (v3c10), it's clearly a psychological manga (not a brainless action one like "Eden no Ori"). The drawings are better than average, but with scarce backgrounds. The strong point is that the characters are quite interesting, and less stereotypical than in "Metro Survive" or "7 seeds", though there's nothing fully new.

I'm just anxious about the next chapters because the plot has been getting weaker. I don't mind a few minor inconsistencies, but I'm not at ease with 2 major bugs in this series' scenario. So many series fall down after a promising start.

Update (chapter 20)
Unfortunately, the series did not keep its promises. The art went down. The characters went dull and more stereotypical. Nothing cynical in the latest chapter (c20), nothing original or just interesting. I'm dropping this series.

Another reason for dropping this is, as other reviewers commented, the strange policy of the scanlating group. They want everyone interested in the manga to post in their forum 50 messages for each chapter. I bet this group doesn't like its manga enough to want everyone to read it. They must feel so lonely, they want "friends", even fake friends. It's quite amusing indeed, as this hypocrisy is the starter theme of the manga.

What is your limit? The question is very apropos for the world outside us today: how far can the vast majority of the populace be pushed before shifting from civilized mode to feral, beastly, ghastly, vicious killer mode?

And what will happen when this switch occurs?
