It's the start of high school, and Kako decides to "produce" her bookworm of a childhood friend, Kousei, so that he can become a good-looking and popular school idol. She models him after Lawrence, a character in a manga she likes, but as Kousei's transformation becomes a huge success and he extends his new character beyond what she asks for, what will Kako do? Will she find herself left behind in the wake of his newly found popularity?

Also included is a story called Megane Danshi Shinka Setsu (Theory of Evolution for guys with Glasses) in volume four.

Not bad.

Looking at the other glowing reviews I feel like I'm missing something. I really wasn't overly impressed with this. It's not bad by any means, but not THAT good.

The art is gorgeous, I'd say that's definitely the best part imo. The characters are likable too. The female lead isn't a crybaby and is strong, albeit also dense and slightly delusional (in a very funny way of course). I like the male lead too, though I his character changes constantly so I can never quit pin down what he is all about. But It's the story line that gets me. Though maybe I'm biased because I was expecting more "producing"...I mean he's pretty much produced in the first 5 or so pages and from there he just gets more and more popular with no actual changes happening. After that it's just SO repetitive. To me the first volume sort of read like a series of different versions of the same oneshot. More of a storyline does develop, but it's still fairly repetitive and cliche. That being said, the romance is cute.

I'd say if you're an avid lover of shoujo (especially bishie oriented) or if you are just bored and want to pass the time read it. But if you're looking for something really great, keep moving.

I found this manga particularly entertaining at the beginning. Although it somewhat began to drag on, it brought itself back to awesomeness when the love triangle came! I totally love this series for its beautiful art work and how well the story was executed biggrin the core may be cliche but when done correctly is amazing ^-^

The only thing I'm disappointed in was the fact that is was so short. I pictured it to be atleast alil longer and so I kinda felt incomplete with the whole thing.

Overall it's a must read for shoujo lovers like me smile

bishounen wonderland

its like everywhere they go, there would always be a bishounen.
I really liked this manga because:
2) There have been stories like this, but it has a bit of an originality. The plot is original but the part about a country bumpkin wanting to make it big is pretty common.
3) The way the author made the Cliff-hangers make you want to read the next chapter, i couldn't stop reading until I got to the latest chapter (chapter 14)

but i dont like how
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Kako (the glasses-girl) had to explain everything about the Lawrence manga like every chapter (I know this just helps readers understand how she's trying to help Kousei become a better artist but it gets annoying specially when you're too lazy to read so much texts like me) and how Kako always falls for that senpai's games (i mean its cute how Kousei gets jealous but really? is it really that easy to fall for such games?) and the start just went too fast

i give it a 9.6 because its a really great manga although it would've been better.

This isn't your award-winning shoujo by any means...but if your looking for a cute, fun, romantic shoujo you've come to the right place. It's full of cliches, a few stupid hairstyles, and the huge-ass frogs kind of freak me out, but despite it's imperfections I like it. The main guy ins't that perfect, charming suave type, but the naturally handsome, immature type. I recommend it for those who need a shoujo fix like chocolate fixes. It's cute biggrin For the times that you think it will get worse, trst me, it is getting better! I can see a good ending coming soon smile
*Also...did I mention it's full of bishounen confused

Shoujo Manga Done Right

Story so far:
Kaako doesn't really care if people call her plain and a country bumpkin. What sets off her buttons is the fact that people mock & underestimate her childhood friend, Kousei, for being from the country. What people don't know however is that under all the 'country-bumpkiness' hides the face of a prince. Kaako knowing full well of Kousei's charisma decides to 'produce' him into a star whom everyone would look up to as well as to show the people who mocked him before. Kousei, on the other hand, does not really care what people think but in order to please Kaako with whom he is in love with, goes along with the her plans of world domination, no matter how kooky it may be as long as they are together.

Sugary sweet, pretty boys at every turn, strong multi-faceted hero & heroine, beautiful art and a little something to make it 'different' (awesome childhood-friendship-story), what more could you ask for from a shoujo manga? It's a good read in the likes of Ouran, Gakuen Alice, Skip Beat, et al.

I'm reading this manga since the beginning and i LOVED the first volume but now it's getting kinda boring. The art is nice, this is a cute story but it's too much centred on appearance and all the clichés that come along. So apparently it's going to be only 4 volumes (comment below) and i'm glad about that, it needs to end now before that everyone lost interest. If not then the storyline needs to be changed so it can be more entertaining. If there were 10 more volume in production i think that i'll have left it for now and start to read it from volume 8 or something like that.

I'm a little disappointed that it only has four volumes sad
I pictured this manga as more long lasting and though 4 vols may seem a lot to some people, I find it short. But overall the art is wonderful as everyone below has started and the story is (so far) very cute ^^.

The art is wonderful. Hot bishounen!! The pace of the story is pretty good. The female protagonist is somewhat a clueless girl but isn't a total push over and she's learning along the way. The male protagonist.-If you're into that overprotective totally in love with you type. Totally makes your heart flutter. This is so your manga. I am dying waiting for the latest chapters! This series is like the reverse of Skip Beat! Yagami Kousei (male protagonist) stays true to his roots and best friend Kahara Kako (female protagonist).

The plot could be interesting, but it gets boring. It's all been done before. It would be better if the dude didn't change his character every five seconds. Too much is too much.
The art's nice, though.
