Yousuke and his sister were orphaned at a young age. Yousuke's sister was adopted ten years before the start of the story, since then, he has been looking for her.

One day Yousuke found the couple that adopted his sister, the problem is that they have two daughters, Ayu and Mayu, both of which were adopted from the same orphanage and are roughly the same age. Both Ayu and Mayu had an older brother before being adopted.

Things get more complicated when Yousuke learns that the orphanage where he previously lived was burned down a year earlier, destroying all the records, and that the couple's own records have disappeared. Yousuke must figure out which one of the girls is in fact his sister.

I thought I'd check some series that have been catching the fancy of the youngsters recently. And...

I should not have done that. This manga isn't the least bit funny, the art is nothing special, and the "story" is entirely tepid. The only reason I don't rate it a 1 is that I save that for series that are utterly despicable as well as just plain bad.

Well, the art ain't very good, but it's actually weird how I came to like this one.

I think Ayu Mayu is fresh; it doesn't drag, it doesn't delay the inevitable, it's fast paced, it doesn't rely on too many characters (yet), and it's funny, especially since the main character is a crazy imouto-loving maniac with an inconsistent yet comic personality.

I don't know about you, but I'm enjoying it. It's funny how its romance side actually goes somewhere yet remains unpredictable. Maybe I haven't read much ani-imouto manga relationships..

if you are looking for psychological enlightenement or a truely moving story, look somewhere else. But this manga brings out the truely light hearted nature. It may not be extremely creative or emotionally moving, but it does deliver what manga of this genre delivers best, a comic sense of relief and subtlle hints at deeper drama

what im saying is... despite everyone feeling this manga is cliche, it does do a good job at what it does. anyways, a shonen ramance isnt good until the protagonist becomes perverted...

If you like Love Hina type storytelling and humor (overexaggerated fan service) then you'll like it. If you don't...then, well, look elsewhere. Personally I found it hard to finish the first volume with all of the exaggerated, cliched characters and scenarios. And what the hell is with the mangaka and challenges? Can't he think of a better way to create conflict than that?

Well comparing this to other manga seems a bit reduntant at this point b/c manga in this genre tend to all be vapid copies of each other (He is My Master and yes even you guys' precious Onegai Twins). But I like the main character, Yousuke; he's a harmless idiot and that's what I like. Even though like every other red-blooded 10th grade boy he has perverted fantasies about any and all women (including both Ayu and Mayu), he really cares about both girls even though one of them might not be his real sister.

Really glad someone else picked this up hope we continue to get regular updates. ^__^

Ayu Mayu is an unoriginal, funny, entertaining manga. This manga is like a balance of Hayate no Gotoku and Please Twins. Since I'm one of those guys that like these sorts of manga, I'll stay with it. I'm not giving it a rating just yet because only 2 chapters have been scanned.
