Slow to start
The beginning didn't grab my attention. It seemed cliched but because it received such high ratings, I kept going forward. I'm not a fan of shoujo-esque art but as you read on, the story improves and slowly you will find yourself addicted. Very fun read, give it a try.
I wonder about some of the comments stating it's bad. I mean, most of these are whining that it's full of drama, etc. Well, duh! It's clearly tagged as "drama" AND "tragedy" so it shouldn't surprise anyone that it isn't happy shounen "let's have lots and lots of epic battles and no real plot" kind of manga.
Anyway, what I liked about it? 1) Plot complexity that was handled really skillfully. Let's just say that you can save yourself the trouble of even trying to figure things out. Everything is explained sooner or later and it's almost bound to be different than what you thought. 2) Balance between action and plot, so it's not for people who expect to see action with bits of plot in between, but rather the opposite. 3) The way it ended. Perfectly fitting the character of the whole manga. Even though everything pointed to either an extremely dramatic or just wrong ending. I will only say that it went the dramatic way, but managed to turn out just right with some bittersweet feelings. It's neither a happy nor really sad ending. It's somewhere in between and that's just how it should be.
Basically you should be satisfied with this manga if you like vampires and some good and mysterious plot. And don't mind that's it isn't really a happy story. Don't expect lots of "awesome" action.
I think it's worth the read
I picked this up as I'm a fan of Shiradaira-san's work such as Spiral -Suiri no Kizuna- and I wanted to compare other works.
I first though when I started it that it's be your average shounen manga, and I was quite satisfied when it wasn't. It does seem to have a shoujo-ish feel to it due to the drama and tragedy, however I like either genre as long as the story seems interesting, so this does not bother me.
I haven't read the ending, as I'm awaiting the final volume to come up in my area. However from what I've read (being 7 volumes and a bit of the 8th) it's worth at least checking out if you like Shirodaira-san's works. Or if you don't really have a problem with both Shoujo and Shounen elements being combined into a story.
my god the art is terrible. i couldnt tell who was who and all the characters are ugly.the proportions are weird. the story? i couldnt read after the first pages because i started laughing. the seriousness is somehow not very serious, and is too dramatic. the characters all have their hair in their face, how do they see and fight like that? anyway, the stuff besides the faces is drawn okay, but the faces.....urk.. 3/10 becasue i couldnt read past the third page.
Rare manga for me. I see the intro really great even the middle part was great.. then suddenly so much was thrown at me and i felt that it turn into some dramatic soap opera show.. tragedy didn't sink in cause no build up was made nor any emotional connection to new characters..
this is a great manga, I was hooked the moment I started reading because of the amazing plot twists and the beautiful art... although if you're looking for a typical shounen manga you'll probably be disappointed.
Beginning crap, middle really good, end crap
Manga is not good at all at da beginning, but afta a couple of a chapters its like amazing. When the secrets got revealed, I mean honestly the way the past was revealed, the main characterz actions, all dat, amazing. But after that, it again got bad. Basically beginning k, middle amazing, end not gud at all. the high rating is cus the middle is amazingly awesome.
I just had to stop reading it 3/4s of the way...
I got tired of the entire manga almost being a description of how strong the main character is, without any real violence to back it up. It's mysteries wrapped in mysteries wrapped in mysteries....and it seems like the "air" of complexity....was so strained that it felt like complexity for the sake of complexity...descriptions of characters will take most the time in this manga....you got almost no real action in it even though they're quite generous in the amount of pages telling how strong they'd be if they DID fight.

sigh.... not that good
Hmm.. this manga is just 1 big long tragedy. There is no good or bad... just regrets and sadness and the actions guided by those feelings. Very frustrating and depressing manga in my personal opinion. If you like vampires... you might want to pass on this one, if you like comedy PASS on this one. I finished this manga long ago and if memory serves me right, not 1 single individual ends up happy here.
Well well well
This series certainly gives the phrase

" I'll even fly to the moon "
a whole new meaning. I first thought this wasn't worth reading because the fight scenes seemed too shoujo-ish for my taste (A handsome vampire? Now where did I hear that before?). In fact, I even dropped it right off the bat. Wandering and searching for your lost beloved, it might seem pretty cool at first but would soon lost its novelty after one or two volumes. But I was wrong. I picked this up again a few months later. And like they say, the plot thickens. You'll have to read more than 3 volumes to get a feel of what this manga is. I could almost feel the burden of the author, who is trying their best to paint a picture, a magnificent one. The execution might not be perfect, some elements might seem unbelievable, and just as in most tragedy series, some characters do get over-sentimental. But there's a great story to be told here. A story about a fallen vampire.
