WTF is with the 1 star ratings?!?! People, please do NOT get swayed by that. No no no! It’s not accurate at all. I’ll bet those people didn’t even finish the series, which isn’t fair.
I’ll admit, I also had a bit of a tough time getting into the story in the beginning. It didn’t draw me in at first. Perhaps it’s because the gruesome and ugly side of human nature that’s portrayed is so off putting. But by ep ~20, you’re HOOKED.
The art, plot, characters (design, growth, you name it), the storyboarding and plot buildup — these are all done SO well it’s literally chefs kiss. I’m currently on ep 65 and I literally have to take a pause because I need to mentally prepare myself for the emotional damage this is going to have on me. You could binge it if you want since it’s a relatively short read, but I don’t recommend it cuz you gotta let it sink in. The way the characters’ emotions are portrayed, the plot twist that comes later (honestly didn’t see that coming)… are all so riveting.
Anyway, this series deserves more readership. It’s such a hidden gem. The art is just sooooo gooooood.
EDIT: Just finished reading this and yup it’s a 10/10 without a doubt. The ending felt a tiny bit rushed but overall was good. I really enjoyed it. The Afterword is very meaningful and explains a lot about the theme.
