Scanlation Doesn't do the Story Justice

Whether you like this short doujinshi might really depend on whether you read the Japanese raws or the English scanlation.

The story in its raw form is a perfect combination of whimsical comedy and deep emotion. It is peppered with clever puns, beautiful language, and several layers of interpretation revolving around the opening line. It was a delightful read in the raw form, and one of the better KHR doujinshi written.

The English scanlation, on the other hand, lost at least half of the poetry and clever wit in the dialogue. It was chalk full of horrible translation errors and it seems that the proofreader, if there was one, is not a native speaker of English. As a result, you get... a mediocre story that concentrates on the sex scene at the end. The doujinshi is not suppposed to be as shallow as the English scanlation comes off as. Perhaps conveying the deeper, subtle undertones of the dialogue was not the priority of that group that scanlated it. It's certainly possible to do so, with effort, but I guess the group didn't realize or didn't care.

Therefore, I strongly recommend reading the Japanese raws if you can and if you care about story. However, if you are satisfied with just porn and don't mind bad English because the sex scenes are more important than the story, then the scanlation should suit you just fine.

If another group wants to rescanlate this and actually keep a level of sophistication within the English translations, you would really have my gratitude.

9/10 rating is for the Japanese raw.
