I started reading this one several years ago so I can only write about the general impression the manga left me with, even so, since after so much time there has been no new release I'll write this now since I'll probably never finish this.
To start of, I think the comments here are quite misleading, I get it that people like it, an 8 is understandable even a 9, but to call it a masterpiece? in relation to what? I don't think so, not by any kind of measurement, unless maybe if you're new to manga and like all of us at that stage, any manga was awesome, there are just too many that vote either 1 or 10, no middle-grounds.
First the chars, I found Utsuho to be an annoying character, for many reasons, first is that I didn't find him very believable, he's a liar, ok, but why is he so strong? it's never properly explained (that I remember), the way he decides to help people is crap too, he's having a monologue and goes "I know I'll use lies to make people happy" and that's that, the rest is accessory, the author tries to mitigate the shallowness of it later with Utsuhos past but for me it was too late, still all that is secondary, what I can't stand is his interactions with the rest of the characters, leaving Pochi aside he's an ass with all of his companions and there isn't much justification for why, Neya is more dedicated and loyal, and the guy (medic) if I'm not mistaken saves him quite a few times, Pochi... aside from being cute has a sad story and met Utsuho first... that's it. I think he treats even some enemies better. The girl, Neya on the other hand starts as an interesting char, she's apparently the only char in the hole manga (so far) who actually manages to fool Utsuho, after that she's lowered to an uninteresting girl desperate to get Utsuho's attention while he treats her like crap and ignores her most of the time. As for the medic and the immortal guy, I don't remember much about him and that's saying enough.
Then we have the story, the lying idea is good but it's appeal is short lived, as Oehr and ChildofSecrets say it's poorly executed, the depth of the lies is so shallow, the contents so dumb that it's hard to be interested at all. Also it seams being an itsuwaribito is an extremely popular profession yet all those profesional lairs have no brain and fall far who knows how many predictable feints and lies yet still after all that lie and be lied this ends up being just a generic shounnen battle manga. The overarching plot of the 7 treasures is still halfway through so I can't comment on that part. Lastly, as AnimeCynthia21 says the manga goes on nonchalantly and lighthearted while depicting people dying by the hundreds, kids killed, families destroyed and all kinds of betrayals... I don't like that, it feels off.
Last, as for positive things about this manga... I can only think of the art-style and it's good, not great.
By the way, the current arc (tanukis) is such a load of BS that I would not be surprised if the scanlation stopped because they got fed up there (doubt it but still makes me wonder...).
