I cannot fully express my obsession over the brilliance that is Pandora Hearts. I am forever indebted to Mochizuki-sensei and my friend who had recommended this series to me.
Thus far, I've yet to find another manga with a similar art style to Mochizuki-sensei's. Her character designs are very distinguishable and show off the characters' personalities well. The way Mochizuki-sensei depicts the Victorian aged era styled backgrounds and settings are utterly gorgeous and breathtaking. Her sceneries, both on Earth and in other dimensions are perfectly made and beautiful.
The storyline has yet to disappoint me! Every chapter reveals a new surprise, and the haunting mystery of it all just grips me and makes me want more. Chapter updates can't come soon enough! Anyway, Mochizuki-sensei weaves the story so skillfully that it's almost impossible to just stop at the middle of it. The plot, though confusing at first, comes together in later chapters. I think that once you get a hang of it, you'll fully enjoy this series. Also, this series has lots of reference to Alice in Wonderland, through names and places. Because of this, I had a spark of reinterest in Lewis Carrol. Just a little info I wanted to throw in.
Okay, now my favorite part: characters. Oh, the story seems to mostly owe its awesomeness to it's fantastic characters! I think over 50% of it's awesomeness is due to how Mochizuki-sensei created all the characters. They all have such intense, gripping backgrounds that create who they are and the way they affect the story. I love it. It's really hard to pick just one favorite character, but I'm always rooting for Cheshire!
So, like I said, I couldn't express my amazement and fangirlness to this series. Highly recommended, so check it out!
