Description

Great humor. I enjoyed the first half more, the whole revolution and actual plot was a bit of a mess. Morally questionable ML and romance - but I can overlook it for the sake of the cooking and the FL. OG FL is pretty cool. Cute ending imo.

Extremely rushed ending

Garbage ending otherwise not too bad, wouldn't read this over other series if you have any lined up. It felt so rushed. It felt like a nice enjoyable train ride then it turned to the equivalent of a hypersonic missile being launched at over Mach 5. There is way to many loose ends, inconsistent plot points, it sped past important events and characters with little to no explanation on who they really are/were. My guess would be that the studio probably cut funding so they had to rush an ending.
Overall rating would be 4.8/10 (would have been a 7.5-8.1/10 if they fixed all the things I listed.

Light reading but...

Honestly I was hoping for something better...only thing, the hunger that came with the first chapters stayed with me 🤣

Honestly too few to develop this story well. As said already many times it would have been better to have more chapters and a much more linear story.

Story:
Pleasant (?). Honestly attracted by the cooking theme and YouTube short videos (which are pretty much my downfall 😅) I was pleasantly impressed by the cooking part but bitter in the story part. Again, the ending is rushed.
The fact that the story consists of only a few chapters also penalized certain events, going to create in my opinion some holes that could have been "plugged" with 1 or 2 more chapters.

Drawing/Graphics:
Here I am very conflicted. The first chapters were well done with good attention to detail but as we went on the style deteriorated and like me, other readers noticed this deterioration.

Final Reflection:
Would I recommend this manhwa for the story? No ❌.
Would I recommend this manhwa for the recipes? 100% YES ✔️
Would I read it again? No ❌.

I like the premises of the leads. The ML needs some work with his character growth though. Ending is abrupt for both couples. Second couple felt inconclusive, considering how much the author delved into their back stories. Was a nice, light read. Nothing you'd become too attached to.

Read this while ongoing.

Art is often inconsistent but it's alright.
Not really hooked with the entire plot and its execution tho I did admire the original FL/2nd FL tho (since our FL is supposed to be an extra) as she actually didn't fall with the ogML/emperor and how everything ended between them.
Although ending did seem a bit rushed, but I wasn't really expecting much of this work and just finished it for my curiosity.

I am usually not one for comedy, romance but with the combination of food and the playful back and forth of our two main leads, I can't hell but adore this manga

The art can SOMETIMES be wonky and disproportioned but not commonly and admittedly sometimes I find myself frustrated with the female lead but I think this series captures well the want to help someone and the slow burning romance that could come with it

It isnt your run of the mill love story and Its worth reading for that alone

Poor adaptation of the original novel

The novel this series is based on is excellent, and I highly recommend it.

 However...

 Having read the original novel, I was EXTREMELY disappointed by this adaption. The manhwa does not capture the main character's personality AT ALL, and the art is...not great.

 Nobody in the manga even seems to be wearing clothes from the same era, and the outfits they are wearing are horrendous. 

 The best part of the series is supposed to be the FL's foodie priorities and the manhwa just doesn't execute this well.

 I actually dropped the series because of the clothes. The CLOTHING, of all things!!!

 One of the worst wardrobe offenses was from the scene where the FL hides the cheese jerky in her sleeves in the original novel. However, the manhwa has her wearing a dress with short sleeves and weird wrist cuffs! The food just appears out of nowhere!!! 

 The last straw was when I saw her abomination of a dress WITH A TEDDY BEAR printed on her chest!!!!! WHO THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA?!!!! She looks like a modern cosplayer, and not in a good way.

 I NEVER thought I'd drop a series for the costumes, but the quality of the adaptation overall was just too low.

So it's pretty mediocre... okay for passing time as nothing's super irritating but nothing's great either. The romance is also pretty bad - the ML has done literally nothing redeemable but the FL is strongly attached to him nevertheless.

Review @ ch5 / 8/12/22:
The art for the characters is sometimes misproportioned but the art / coloring for the food makes it look delicious and the main point of this story is definitely the food!

The characters are a little ridiculous (female lead only cares about eating) but it’s not meant to be a serious story.

Enjoyable for what it is!
