I. enjoy this type of old manga. Nice and short story, with pretty art. Feels kind of incomplete, but that's its charm I guess.
Edit: there's a sequel! That explains it! But it's not scanlated yet so I guess I'll have to wait., maybe for a long time, I don't see it being scanlated soon.
Started reading the manga with gloomy prospects, but this enchanted me completely. I felt like I was reading one of those Enid Blyton books I used to read when I was a kid. Its the perfect balance of fantasy(sort of) and realism. You get this tinge of nostalgia while reading this. Within its simplistic lines and themes there's just a hidden something which I can't name no matter how hard I try.
Definitely try this.
The story is very touching and pricks you when you read it. It is very sweet, and quite realistic and far-fetched at times (fate does tend to help manga characters more than it helps living humans).
This is an interesting story of a little girl, Sanoko, who lives with her father in a quite busy, crowded district of Tokyo. Many would see Tokyo only as their working place while their beloved hometown is someplace else, but for Sanoko this lively town is her true home... I loved this manga because it's sweet and sensitive, I really liked their house that her father built, full of flowers and sunlight... It's pretty and seems warm.
However, I feel a bit shallow for saying now that what I liked the most was this young bud of feelings Kawakubo-kun had for Sana XD. Seems like I wasn't alone since Sensei indeed continued the story of Sana and Kawakubo-kun in "Take the A Train".
