the comedy, push and pull romance, honestly really good, i enjoyed reading it. but the (spoiler) open ending was sad for me, feels really unfair for Mo even though it's make sense that the two of them are not ready yet for relationship. 🤧🤧 i hate this kind of feelings that always i got from an open endings comics/dramas/movies/novels

i. hate. open. endings.

(plus too much time spent on showing the misunderstaning, really rushed backstory of both characters, we also couldn't see how and IF they successfully fought their demons and worries)

My thoughts after I just finished the story

I just finished reading the story. I really enjoyed reading it and think in many ways the story stood out.
I agree that it is not a redeeming ending and therefore hope there will be another season or a sidestory.

Great story but rushed ending

I will premise that as of writing this, many people believe that the story has ended (while others are still holding out hope for a continuation). I would be lying if I said that I am satisfied by the ending, but I can also understand the direction the author was going for.

I enjoyed reading the story because it took the classic CEO x employee dynamic and flipped it around to talk about power dynamics, trust, and the meaning of love. I appreciated that the author took a standard trope and subverted our expectations for their characters and their relationships.

Story:
The story in general starts off pretty lighthearted but delves deep into some serious issues that the characters are working through. There are various characters and a few side-plots, but the story mainly focuses on President Mo and Secretary Xiao. Like Pompina Q states in their comment, I definitely think it's written more as a slice of life than a romance.

Characters:
The two main characters are pretty well developed (though there are still a few unanswered parts of their stories as of the ending at chapter 82). Their motivations and actions are reasonable, and I really rooted for them, especially Mo Yanchuan. There are various side characters and subplots centered around them, but they don't lead anywhere.

Art:
I really liked the art and the character designs. There are quite a few cinematographic frames and their facial expressions were portrayed well throughout the story.

Ending:
In short, the ending felt super rushed, like the series was axed. There was no indication of a proper ending coming, nor does the final chapter (chapter 82) have anything that resembles a "Thank you for reading" or "Finale". The story was left open-ended, with many issues presented within the plot left unresolved. I, myself, was quite disappointed when I found out this could possibly be the finale, but I also appreciate what I believe the author was trying to do:

it's a story about what could have been, but the characters are only human so they miss the opportunity to achieve their perfect ending.
It's a relatively happy, if bittersweet, ending. However, given this, I still believe the ending is rushed, because of how it is written compared to the rest of the story.

Nevertheless, I recommend reading this, knowing that the ending will not be the classic perfect ending. I will also say that even though this story is not rated 18+, there are a few scenes that strongly imply sexual acts, so take that what you will.

Beautiful art, cute, and funny BUT….

The story was great. The art was beautiful, cute even and there are many funny moments in the story along with dealing with really serious issues. I would say come into the story, knowing that it’s more of a slice of life piece.

At the end of the story, there are many things left unresolved however, I wouldn’t consider it a negative or an an unfulfilling ending, this story is really just is a moment in time for both Xiao Nuo and Mo Yanchuan.

SPOILERS AHEAD
When I first read the ending to the story, I was really disappointed because I was invested like I assume most will be in an ending where both Xiao Nuo and Mo Yanchuan are together.

However, I really like this story and after thinking about it for a few days, I came to accept it as a slice of life piece that just showed us a window in time of these two people lives. If I really had to call it, I would say it’s a very realistic ending to a love that just kind of went nowhere at the end.

It’s very bittersweet for Mo Yanchuan who sincerely loves Xiao Nuo and has to accept that it’s not going to happen (atleast by the end of the story). It is left slightly open ended with them parting on good terms and Xiao Nuo coming out to his mom officially eventhough she already knew.

Still I recommend this for a read…

I am enjoying the story (boss likes his subordinate, wants a relationship with him but the subordinate does not and wants a friends with benefits type of relationship because of a hinted past trauma). I really like the art and it has so many funny moments. The boss is really cute and love that he's the bottom. I'm really liking the recent development involving the cooking live streaming plot point!!

Edit after ending:
SPOILERS!!
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Okay.....someone say sike. Was that the ending? I'm all for realistic endings but not gonna lie that was too much of a bittersweet ending. It ended on a good note (realistically if you take into account their relationship of boss-secretary and how they the Mr. Mo the president was okay with staying in a friend's with benefits relationship if Secretary Xiao was hesitant (because of past relationship trauma) to reciprocate Mo's feelings) but to admit I really wanted more for an ending. I'm satisfied but also not happy. There was still a few things we didn't get a conclusion on or just a cliche goodbye on (the sister and the orange haired girl for example).

All in all, I reccomend reading it because it was honsetly really really good. however do note that the ending might leave you unsatisfied.

Do I believe that this story got the axe and was canceled by the management/publishing company? I have nothing to base this (no Tweets for example) but to me it feels like it.

I'm really hoping that there's going to be side stories.....? Like...
