Not a fan

I really don't understand why this is so highly rated.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
He gets rejected and instead of moving on, ends up cross dressing and stalking this girl. When he gets confronted on his stalking he doubles down and says he's only stalking her to help her. After MONTHS he finally feels guilty enough to reveal that he was lying to these two girls. Instead of getting rightfully pissed at him, he just apologizes and they basically go "It's ok you were just trying to help, also I love you." Then he ends up with the second girl, after spending all this time helping the first girl.

I am genuinely uncomfortable that people think this is good when the main character is really creepy.

Coming back to this a bit later, I actually think I hate the main character. Everyone else is fine, but he's a piece of shit, that gets rewarded for being a piece of shit.

This is the story of a boy falling in love with a girl because of a misunderstanding, finding out it’s a misunderstanding, and sticking to that love regardless. To meet his ends he decides to repeatedly manipulate his love interest and her best friend at his whims to glean any information that might benefit him and his situation. The only adult figure in his life encourages this and actively enables him to do so. The manga finally shows some teeth when all his manipulations come to light, through no choice of his own, but being forced to show his hand, and the problems are quickly resolved. The best friend literally says, “I know you’re a nice guy on the inside so all the things you did don’t matter”, then goes on to try to convince the love interest of this position too — and she comes around to it. The manga resolves with the terrible, manipulative boy getting his choice between the two girls and he picks the one who was not his original love interest for not entirely clear reasons. Honestly, this is one of the only credits I give the manga, Botan is an actual character with personality while the original female lead is a blank slate in most scenes. Switching female leads is a good choice, it’s a shame they just didn’t really write it into the plot.

On the whole, this manga sucks and rewards a shitty guy for being shitty with no real repercussions. I don’t get why people shower it with praise. The art is decent, I guess.

Good plot with an unexpected good ending

It the same plot of MC that look the bad guy and heroine that are cold and hate guys. Despite how we used to it. It will get better as goes on and it starts with the MC crossdressing up as a girl and becoming closer to Main Girl.

The humor there and romance it rather good. The ending helps that with an unexpected turn for the better with I'll put little spoiler below

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The real plot really starts when the Main Girl best friend who up. She'll seem just as a protective friend and may fall for the MC only for her love to be taken by Main Girl or just be in his "harem". But then she'll have more interaction with both MC and his cross-dressing version then she becomes good friends with both of them. But Main Girl only interaction with MC Crossdressing version. With those facts make it are even more, better with the ending

Pure Cuteness

This series started off feeling like a cute, if cliche, fluff piece. However, it quickly surprised me by having self-aware characters, interesting interactions and well written character development. Even better, the friendship and romance were superbly done. A very refreshing shoujo manga that kept it sweet and real at the same time. Highly recommend!

Happiness

The manga gets praised on every forum and rightfully so.
The art is pretty good for this genre and the characterisation is well done and not over the top.
It is indeed a pure romance manga, but one that delivers all the cuteness and positivity.
Ending is a bit flat, as it fails to make the aftermath of the drama interesting as we're in a totally normal mundane world. But the end is still exactly what you want for 100% of the readers.

Okay, after looking down the other comments, it is 99,9%. Don't believe me? read any thread on this manga on any forum.

Decent manga with crappy ending

I kinda liked it, but I hated the ending. It's overall cute and fairly funny with reasonable jokes and light-hearted setting, but I just can't stomach this ending and it knocks off 2 points from the score.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Why is it always so damn hard for mcs in stories like this to end up with the girl they went for at the start? Why do their feelings have to change, especially if the girl in question falls in love with the mc? I've had freaking enough of it, f*ck that. I also felt like their personalities became somewhat boring at the end, as if they were forced to act all cutesy and kind to show that she's over her androphobia. Even a harem ending would've been better than this

If you like cutesy and more male geared romance manga, you should give Ookami Shounen wa Kyou mo Uso o Kasaneru a try. Who knows? You might be surprised and regain what little hope you have left in humanity.

Ookami Shounen doesn't seem particularly noteworthy at first. The main heroine has a fear of men, the protagonist employs magic crossdressing, and there's a "guard dog" type best friend getting in the way of romance. But wait! It's actually secretly hiding an incredibly compelling and cute romance WITH that best friend! But herein lies the problem. The "other" heroine is superb, but will the series end with her winning? I talk a lot about this in a full review, but basically, this cute and funny series has the potential to be amazing or infuriating. Only time will tell.

Androphobia is overdone.

It feels like a trope used as an excuse for main shoujo characters to have a suitable excuse for beating up guys. That said, using cross-dressing as a way to bridge the gap between the main characters is rarely done. This manga I feel that it is actually decently done because of the way that Itsuki does get twinges from his conscience as he lies to the other characters.
