The art was great, the premise could've been interesting, but the execution of the plot, pacing, and overall characters are just not it.
I feel we should've gotten a chapter or 2 to see the ML's POV bc his character was basically all over the place to the point of being contradictory, esp considering the reveal.
He was in love with the MC this whole story but bc of poor communication, he thought MC was straight? Not into him? Idk, it's one of those contradictions. Another one is how he constantly puts MC in proximity of ppl MC's obviously bothered by but he's supposed to be in love with him? Also how the MC had to strongarm ML to agree to a 1yr fidelity agreement (bc ML refused to do 5yrs), but again, this guy is in love with MC. Or how he at first didn't seem to want to be anywhere near the MC so MC had to do all the heavy-lifting to get closer to the ML, until the story changes its mind and suddenly the ML is making up excuses to be near the MC. There're more but this is long enough.
Unfortunately, MC isn't much better. He's so into the ML, it's at the point he lacks self-respect abt it. And he also sucks at communication. But these aspects of his are more frustrating but clearly planned character flaws rather than being bc of bad writing (mostly), which idk if that makes his character better or worse, esp when the rest of the story does nothing to properly explore his flaws or character development (he kind of doesn't get much of one).
The story would've benefited in having many more chapters to flesh it and its characters out. Apparently, it's a novel adaptation, which could explain a few things. The novel is probably a much better told version of this (haven't read it, so this is just from bias opinion that the original works tend to often be better, story-wise, than the adaptation).
