"To put it in perspective: Lovenista reads like a 12 year-old's first R-rated fanfic ("OMG read & review otherwise I won't write moooooore!"😉 Characterization? There is none. A coherent plot? Kayono does not know the meaning of this "plot" you speak of. Sexual situations which have an ounce of realism? Dialogue that isn't hopelessly corny? Decent pacing which features story developments that don't come out of nowhere? Nope, nope, and nope."
I just wanted to add to this and say: Child Grooming is treated like an "Elicit Affair with a married woman" and a "Love Rival" instead of treating her like the Criminal she is. ML was 13/14 when he met his DOCTOR (she should have been fired and stripped of her title and then thrown in jail) whom started a sexual relationship with her PATIENT who is a young teen with emotional issues, healing from a major car accident, that was still grieving his mother. She is a predator who literally groomed him to be her sex toy through manipulation and coercion. She used her position of power as a Doctor and as an Adult to take advantage of a vulnerable minor. This whole situation was toxic from beginning to end. Without her he would have eventually discovered his passion/goal in life and still met the FL who would have helped him through his emotional trauma and vice versa. That Predator had ZERO to do with his success, happiness and mental well-being. In fact she made his life WORSE.
Edit: I had a previous version of the above but it was accidentally deleted while I was still typing and lost everything. This is me trying to piece back together what i previosly wrote.
This one isn't a masterpiece, in fact, it can be very silly and cliche, yet it is still 100000x better than so many other ones that left a bad taste in my mouth.
I don't get why so many people hated it. There are muuuch worse stories. This one has consenting sex, and girl having sex lr desiring sex isn't treated as a horrible human for a first. She can be kinda cool as well.
It is the typical shoujo manga with happy ending and cute romance, except that there is a lot of sexual tension and the characters are fun.
The story was so so but what made it worse were the characters. The art was unnecessarily glittery and pointy, a huge turn off. The female character can only be labelled as slut and the guy a man whore. 😐 Did anyone else notice that the female's face looked like a rodent? Just couldn't get it out of my head.
Personally, I really did enjoy it. It's not a literary masterpiece, but it's easy enough to read and enjoyable. The plot is, at best, incredibly predictable, but the same can be said for a lot of shoujo manga. The artwork is gorgeous, which is what attracted me to it in the first place. I know there is a lot of hoo-har about the plagerism case surrounding this mangaka, but please, don't let that sway your opinion; that has nothing to do with this story. It's nothing spectacular, but it's also not terrible. Just give it a go.
Although it is very cliche in the smut genre for a dumb girl to fall in love with the most handsomest guy ever, I actually enjoyed this simply for the art and I've got to admit Hiromichi is very handsome, but a jerk nonetheless. I think this would have made a better story if Yun had instead gone out with Kyougo who really liked her... and have some character development for HIromichi. But then again smut stories rarely have plot twists.
This was, in my opinion, plain bad. I didn't like the art too much, because it felt a little awkward, forced and lifeless. The plot was just as forced, and also very rushed. Skipping over the backgroundstory of the protagonists, something that could have been good, wasn't a very wise decision, in my opinion. Everything about this felt lifeless and forced, come to think of it. And the protagonists weren't exactly likeable, either. Definitely a waste of my time. :/
Well, i cannot say this is a masterpiece but definitely the mangaka's best manga in the storyline. I, sometimes, can't stand her way of drawing bishie.. Yes, it's really handsome! but it feels weird for me... i dunno why, it feels annoying. But this Hiromichi, i think he's good.
I know that Kayono having issue with plagiarism but I still like her work.
And... i don't really understand why anyone pissed off of this manga bcoz this is really a time killer manga. If you're wasting your time and get pissed off then stop reading it. We know we can't put logic in the same line with smut and shoujo.
So many people are giving this manga really bad ratings.
I'll admit, didn't like the fact that a 16 year old had sex that much and what kind of a man whore the guy was but i think the storyline wasn't that bad.
DON'T DISS HIROMICHI!! just coz he's a gansta that wants to be a make up artist, doesn't make him sissy. I think thats a new concept nd pretty cool if a guyy cud do that.
And YUN. she is really perverted and all OMG I WANT HIM TO DO ME but she's not really a "weak girl". She beats guys up and slaps the ganstas,, huh WHADDYA SAY TO THAT!
anyways theres nothing too graphic, they cover the 'parts' and yun only has sex with him right at the end.. (nd it doesn't even show).
BACK OFF... besides that, it was a good read.
really its not that bad... it was actually entertaining and it also helps that the art is actually very pretty!!! the story is alright... though it is still no match for beauty pop!!!
even though comedy wasnt in the genre it actually made me laugh!! that maybe was the reason why i find it entertaining though it was more like laughing at it than laughing with it... i actually disliked all the characters especially teh girl she was really emotional and mentally unstable and the guy.. just a fucking jackass bastard who doesnt know who he wants!!! and i forgot to mention that the girls is a bigger pervert than the guy.. but that was actually why i find it funny!! but dont we all have those moments??
anyway.. i still prefer Kayono's oneshotty works... i think her art is better in fantasy settings...
but still to people who are scanning the comments before reading... its not that bad!!! try it!!!
I'm a fan of Kayono's art. It's unique and pleasing to the eye. And yes, I know about the plagiarism case, but I'm rating this manga - not Kayono herself or her legal problems.
As for this manga... I thought it was cute. No, it's not deep or profound. Yes, the heroine is a bit empty-headed and definitely slept with a few too many guys for her young age... But some of the reviews here are exaggerating the situation. No, she doesn't just fall in love and move right in for no reason. She doesn't have a home to go back to and had just been kicked out of her ex-boyfriend's house, so she moves in because she has nowhere else to go. Also, the reviews about rampant sex are off, too. The male and female leads don't actually have sex through most of the story. Sexual tension and sexy little nuances are abundant, but actual sex doesn't happen at all until the end of the story. I also don't get why someone mentioned physical and mental abuse...? I don't remember anything about that in either volume. Did I miss something? 😛
At any rate, I enjoyed these two volumes well enough. This isn't a great manga, it's not going to change your life or make your day - but it also isn't horrible, either. So if you like the occasional trashy romance, go ahead and give it a try. If you're looking for some substance in your romance, you might want to look elsewhere.
And take most of the reviews with a grain of salt. It seems to be a common pastime to rip apart Kayono's works solely because of the plagiarism case against her. If you ask me, it's old news. Review the manga itself fairly, or don't review it at all.
