14 Volumes (Complete)

But then the story started pissing me off more and more. I originally read this because I was like "ooh! A story about a short girl like me!!" but it just really gets super boring and repetitive very, very quickly. Main character starts little by little to have more confidence, but of course, not when it matters the most. EVERYONE loves the lead character, which honestly, made me start to hate him because he was just so unrealistic. Also a story that focuses on everyone finding "their true love" as seen with the main character's friend being paired up with the guy who was suppose to be the love triangle (they didn't even reach the love triangle stage and already the author is setting him up to be with another character). Very unrealistic and boring "slice of life" there are so many other shoujos out that that cover this same topic much, much better.
To me this is so BORING and more than a bit repetitive. i read this because of all the good reviews it seemed to have. I should have passed. It's not a bad manga if you like cliched shoujo (to the extreme) and reading the same thing chapter after chapter with the only difference being the situation. if it were a bit more face paced, I'd probably stick with it but I've read 7 volumes already and there's still very little progress. I know it a slow romance, i just didn't think it would be at a snail's pace. So once again not a bad manga if you like a slow progression and looking for a laid back manga; just don't expect many heart thumping suspenseful moments.
Huge Height Difference and these are the sort of things that actually annoy me when i don't find the Couples Compatible but Hiyokoi surprisingly did the reverse for me
Characters are really good, even the side characters are investing enough for me to NOT have any particular character that i dislike (another Rare for me)
Story is Cliched alright, but this Social outcast Couple thingy makes it an Interesting ride all along...you get this amusing feeling of how people around them react and how they respond to certain situation albeit Awkward ones
The Female lead starts out weak like most Shoujo leads but along the way she starts to accept the new things around her and gradually find Confidence for her lack of height
overall recommended....very cute manga albeit in a weird way
Splendid! I would normal avoid this type of manga but after reading the description, I was surprisingly attracted to it. Their difference in height made this couple all the more unique. And I am happy enough that the hero is not all that blunt. He is straight-forward, considerate and notices things around him. I am glad that there is finally a hero who is not obsessed with childhood friendships. Overall, it is highly recommended!
As a lot of people are pointing out, yeah, this is just another cliched shoujo manga. However, The girl is just so cute with some really oddball actions that you just can't help but smile. It's just a cute cute story and well worth reading. You wont be able to stop and you find yourself really pulling for this girl.
Pretty cliched, i hate it how many love rivals there are. I mean, it hardly seems like she likes him anyway because of how fast she fell in love with him. What happened to classic mangas where it takes more than five chapters to fall in love? Heck go for TEN chapters. It's ok, kill time manga. Generic shojo but its still pretty cute i guess, maybe i just need to lay off the love triangle scene ey?
The manga is just some cliche school life romance manga. The main girl is just a frustrating, shy, no confident cry baby. Overall, this story is expected.
However, I don't know why I still find it captivating. Probably it's because this manga has it's own uniqueness, with the characters having a height difference of 50cm. And, maybe it's because there isn't too much of a dramatic scene that makes me want to stop reading. Though the female lead is some typical crybaby, but I don't find her weak. Though she is not strong either, somehow, it just seems to me that she will try to work things through.
She may not be the ideal female lead and the guy might not be the ideal male lead. But maybe that's why it's still capturing my attention. After all, no one is perfect.
As another person had said earlier, most of us reading this series are probably a bit too old for the intended age group. Shoujo in Japanese literally means, young female. Ribon Magazine (the shoujo magazine that this series is serialized in) is targeted at 9-13 year olds in Japan, so keep that in mind before you read this. That said, this series is in no way, shape or form a series about pedophilia or lolicon (as another reviewer here thought it was too much like one). The main character is simply just short. She can't help her height.
Anyway, onto the review! This series is your typical shoujo manga about a shy girl who's not too confident. She struggles to make new friends and struggles to tell the guy she likes how she feels. As Hiyori's confidence grows, so does her height! Her goal is to tell Yuushin (the super tall guy she likes) how she feels and catch up with him in height.
My thoughts: HiyoKoi is very cute series! The main character reminds me so much of myself (although I didn't hide or run away when I got embarrassed) when I was in high school. Reading this series actually made me want to fall in love again lol! I definitely recommend it to anybody who loves shoujo with cute artwork!

Overall: B+
If you're looking for a quintessential Shoujo manga this is it. Awkward girl shows up, has a best friend, meets here love interest, gets a love relive, gets a secondary guy who's interested in her, ect., ect. All the while she's full of angst and self-doubt.
Rating: 4/5 (as of ch18)
If you're looking for a solid Shoujo manga this is it. The characters didn't really grab me, and it's a little too "Slice of Life" for my taste. However, most Shoujo fans should find it an enjoyable read.
I keep trying to find stories like this, because I LOVE THE PLOT LINE SO MUCH!
But I've yet to find one.. :'{
It is TRULY a one of a kind read, I think. c:
YOU MUST READ IT.
It's adorable, and I personally love the situation of shy people throwing away their shyness (maybe cause i'm shy xD, I don't know)
It's just such a good read!
Just read it now! You'll be glad you did!! C:
